wlgiv wrote:Got my unit this morning. Wasn't exactly a mystery since there were enough clues about the item so a corpse could figure it out. That being said - it's a very NICE unit. Has a good, hefty feel and puts out a suprisingly good sound for it's size. Definitely a quantum improvement over standard PC speakers. Also does a nice job filling a small room with tunes from an iPod or MP3 player.
Thanks ThingFling for yet another of your terrific values! You did not get anything else in addition to the speaker system? So both of mine shipped and both are 4.3lbs., so I don't think I got any extra schwag. I'll still be happy because I have two weddings coming up and I might give one or both away as gifts. I'm poor and these were cheap gifts.

E-mail TF and see if you can get a second one. Maybe logout of TF and log back in, clear cookies, etc. Who knows why it's not letting you get a second box.

I took from it that the franklin gadget was the 'big' one of the box? It turned out that the franklin gadget was a defect, several keys didn't work so what good was it? good for nothing! I wrote back to the 1 sale a day site and they never got back to me.. lol I took from the experience that 'it's a mystery for a reason'... something to think about!!
I can tell you almost 100% it is a SoundBar shown here: Altec Lansing

I ordered two of these mystery boxes (a glitch in their system ) and one was good and one was bad. I contacted TF and they went ahead and told me to send it back and they would send me a replacement product. They said it would either be an exact replacement or another item. Personally I would love another product since I already have another Philips phone.

I tried skype's test call to the phone and it did not ring, but I could hear the message/instructions from Skype. I also tried pressing the numbers, talk and off buttons but nothing. I'm just wondering if I got a lemon?! ok...i installed the drivers, etc using the cd ... ... the buttons now beep when pressed but do not affect any actions in skype. Any suggestions? Use the drivers from Philips website, not the CD and download the newest Skype software too. Here is the Philips support site for the phone: Philips USB Internet Phone. There is the driver software and a diagnostic tool for the phone. Verify the model number, I'm pretty sure we all got the same phone.

I bought two of these and both were the Philips Skype phones. One was DOA and one seems to work fine. Does anyone know if TF or Philips will replace the bad one? I know it's a lot to ask for on a mystery item, but still. Thanks.
