I was excited until I read the reviews. Looks like it needs nearly full batteries to actually work, and my collection of rechargeables just wouldn't cut it. Guess I'll need ot keep using my 4 battery backups...too bad, I like the smaller size on this.

These newer versions use a reference voltage across a couple of pins to kick off the charging. Older models don't have that. There ARE some passthrough adapters, but at what they cost, you might as well just buy a new charger.

Too funny. I still have some of these from when they were dirt cheap. Now that cassettes are rare, I guess they're becoming a collector's item or something? Have to find just the right audience for them. I might have bit on 2 or 3 for the shipping price, just don't need one that badly right now.

QVC reviews have it as 1.3 out of 5, based on 19 reviews. Interestingly the highest rating of 3 stars indicated that they were going to be returning them.

Maybe if they were only $2 or $3, they might be good for hollowing out as a book safe? Sounds like it would actually increase their value to do so.

Gads, TF, you really should look into the suggestion of a consumer review panel before buying this stuff and hoping it sells. 6 bucks for 1, $10 for 2, and trying to call it 'free'? You're embarrassing yourselves. But then, everyone else posting has told you that already. How about letting us help figure that out BEFORE you end up with a stack of box cutters in your inventory?

I'm such a sucker for speakers, but my wife would KILL me if I got 6 more. Maybe a 2 pack I could have donw, but what the heck is anyone going to do with 6? Hand them out for Halloween?
