I believe that was Ray's comment when asked about his problems with drug (in this case Heroin, I think) addiction. It was rare but refreshing to see anyone willing to take ownership of their frailties. We need more people willing to do so. We miss you Ray!

Works fine from AC and 12V DC on 2nd gen iPod touch. I will see how many recharges this will do from a 9V DC battery next week on a 14.5 hour flight to Australia. Generally I need to recharge after about 3 hours playing games, so this may help maintain my in flight sanity. I will post results of this after May 3.

I didn't really need any more tools, but got this set in an AMB and found it to be far better quality than I would have expected for the low price. I used it last week to repair a friend's computer. It worked just fine. If I needed another tool set, this would be my first choice.

I'm generally far more of a "now and then" lurker than a consistent conversationalist here. I did enjoy Debs posts and will miss both her and her posts.

I bought this same set for about the same price three or four years ago (from geeks.com) and they have performed quite well. I would buy a set like these again if I had another home theater to install, but since I don't, I will just sit this one out!

cbertsc wrote:how long does it usually take for things to ship?
Well, in the past almost two years, my experience has been that things will generally be on the way to you within a week. Since I am in the Midwest, delivery generally takes two or three days after shipping. In many cases more of the difference in wait times has been due to the shipper than on Thing Fling. Be patient, I have had far fewer "mystery disappointments" here than from other sites, so most things are well worth waiting for. Welcome to the fold of Thing Flingers cbertsc.

It is day eight and mine still shows processing so I won't expect anything too soon.

I just ran across some of this model, and also some of the Philips noise canceling earbuds, on a national chain B&M office supply store clearance table within the past month. They were about $40 for these and $20 for the buds. They weren't refurbs, but were a bit aged and had shopworn packages. Generally the refurbs I buy are less likely to have defects (like "infant mortality" in the first week or so) than are comparable brand new items. Perhaps that is an indicator that a little "burn in" improves your chance of success. If I needed another pair of these, I 'd buy while they remain available here at TF. These are second tier quality, probably just below Bose, but seem to be as long lasting, just not quite as good at noise reduction. The sound quality is better than my ears can perceive so I should probably be hoping for new ears in a future MB. Hopefully some of the Fling Royalty can suggest I get shagged with improved ears. Even refurbs should be just fine...

skyscanr wrote:What I would like to know is " Where do you get a bunch of used headphones from?" My guess would be from the manufacturer or a major retailer who got them as returns, or possibly from an industrial user that was using a "boatload" of them and has now upgraded to a superior product. I currently have a pair of these and they seem to work as well as the $50 headphones from Philips and Panasonic do, even if the comfort level is lower, (I have both of these too), but not as well as Sony and Bose, that both cost a whole lot more. I think I'm in for three, or maybe even six, since people keep asking to borrow my noise canceling phones now that the airlines no longer supply earphones free in coach. If they break these, I won't cry near as long as I would over my high priced pair.
