How is the government forcing you to buy an HDTV? If you are using cable or satellite, the FCC DTV conversion has zero impact on your signal; no need for a new TV. If you are one of the 13% who get their TV Over-The-Air, the gov will give you two $40 gift certificates to buy a (~$50) converter box, so that you don't need a new TV. The government doesn't seem to be forcing you to do anything, except perhaps, spend $10-$20 on a subsidised converter box.
BTW, all of this really relates to "digital" TV, not "High-Def" TV. Your SDTV (Standard-Def TV) is fine, you just need an ATSC tuner (e.g. the converter box). And again, you only need this if you don't have cable or satellite for your TV. Indeed. I now get my television through an HP ExpressCard54 digital TV tuner, using a (big) bunny ears antenna, in combination with Vista Home Premium. It's pretty sweet. DTV and HDTV, all on my 27" tube flat-front TV (that thing's a beast, but I love it). I know it's not going to show more than the standard definition, but it's nice to have a crystal clear signal

I remember seeing a TV display at Best Buy for hi-def movies (I don't remember if it was HD-DVD or BluRay), and it had a bunch of different movies that would show the difference between standard def and hi def. The HD always looked TOO REAL, believe it or not. It didn't look like a movie to me, rather a TV show instead. I didn't like the look. The cartoon movies looked AWESOME, though. I think Finding Nemo was on or something. Sweet.

I love to fling..been here a long time...but dont think for one second you get free shipping..yes its a great savings...but you still pay for it. There's no added charge for shipping. And that's what ThingFling is promoting. They show the "Lowest advertised price" online, and mention that you would have to pay an extra shipping charge for that merchant. They ask you to compare that to ThingFling's price, which has no additional fee for shipping. You pay for "shipping" in EVERYTHING you buy, no matter where it's from. When you buy a gallon of milk, you're paying for "shipping" built into the price of the milk. A different thought though: When you buy something from Amazon using "Free Super Saver Shipping", does that mean that shipping is FREE? Or does that mean they don't charge an extra fee on top of what you're already paying for with the product?

Yeah, currently there's "Adding / Updating a Products in the list: THING FLING brings it to you in double and make it an incredible deal!" as one of the items (looks like two items, unless the description is a hold-over from another deal).
I assume the field was not updated when posting it to the site, or it's supposed to be a "mystery" item.

wlgiv wrote: No I'm not complaining about free shipping. Quote me where I am... I'm not happy that the shipping is so erratic. Sometimes items ship out the next day, other times it takes a week to get (all from a company 40 minutes away) Also the status of the orders needs to be more accurate. I don't mind waiting for something - but don't tell me its shipped when it hasn't even been picked up yet. I'm waiting on a 52" LCD tv from Woot that has still been in the "package info sent to Fedex" stage for 3 days. It was explained how the 3-400 sets that were being shipped out required 2 tractor trailers and that it was an unusual situation. As soon as the trailers left the status would update. I don't care that it hasn't shipped yet - I just need to know the accuarate status to arrange for the delivery. Not that I need to arrange for delivery of ThingFling items, but if there was a tremendous rain storm, I might call someone to drop by the house and bring a box in rather than it getting totally soaked. If you ordered a product from any other retailer and was told it would show up "whenever", would you be happy? All I'm saying is that ThingFling need to be providing more accurate statuses...
Companies ship out only on certain days of the week all the time. Like the Christmas Mystery Boxes -- ThingFling said they would ALL ship out on a particular day. I've noticed that some of my Flings are shipped together, even though they were purchased a day or two apart. I'm completely fine with that, and I'm sure it saves TF money on the shipping. It always seems to ship out within a week, though. UPS tracking has always been accurate for me, except the VERY FEW times that the shipment has been "rescheduled for delivery", in which case I get it a day or two later.
