I assume these are better than the SP 18 because of the phrase "The SP28 is considered the Unisound's finest tower speakers".

But somehow SP18($329) is more expensive than SP28. Anybody has SP28 and can comment on the sound quality? Thanks!

The SP18 is the largest, most expensive speaker Unisound made. The SP18 will play louder than the SP28 and have much more bass. The SP28 specs are wrong, it only has one 6.5 inch woofer in a band-pass (hidden) enclosure.

I am sure that the SP28 a very good sounding tower that has a very nice bass response.

I own DAC 2.6, AU265, and a pair of SP18s.

Would love to buy the SP28s and use them with a sub, but I am out of expendable cash at the moment.

I don't know about anyone else, but the main reason I ordered the 28s this afternoon instead of the 18s was that my Onkyo receiver specs 6-16 ohm speakers, my surrounds are all 8 ohm, and I didn't want to bugger around with buying resistors to place in series..

I can't find anything on the original list price of any of these speakers, specifically the SP18 and SP28. I find it a little hard to believe the SP18 was more expensive than the SP28. It goes against conventional wisdom to think a higher numeric model number in a series would cost less. Anyway, what really matters is how they sound and I have a feeling the SP28 may sound better than the SP18 even though it doesn't go as low or play as loud. Based on reviews of the other speakers I'm very tempted to give them a shot. The cabinets look absolutely gorgeous.

I've got the SP18s and they are stunning for the $$$$. I agree that SP18 representing a better speaker than a "larger numbered" SP28 defies convention, but I'd be VERY surprised if the SP28 is the better speaker. I've been giving serious thought to buying a pair of SP28s and I'd "bet the farm" they are well worth $300. However, I've already got more speakers than I need and will resist. I've got serious power so the 4 ohms of the SP18 is not an issue. The SP28 might well perform better with some gear.

For what its worth Shagbert, Onkyo can handle a 4 ohm load just fine. I have 8 ohm surrounds and 4 ohm unisound front L/R towers and have no problem at all with the reciever. I push it pretty hard to, reciever never heats up to unsfafe temps, no resistors needed. I have a 607

Also, if I wasn't so happy with the dac 2.6 set I got from thingfling, I would find some excuse to buy these. Very impressed with what I have seen from Unisound.

I have a (I think..) 506, and it's not as well vented as it could be, as well as sharing the same cavity in our entertainment centre with a very old big LCD TV that's not exactly energy efficient, and warms the room quite nicely, lol. So didn't want to risk it.. Thanks for the info, though, I'll bear it in my mind when I upgrade the surrounds!

Meant to post this a week or so ago.. Mine arrived, and got unboxed to check them for damage, after all the horror stories in the other Unisound threads. They then headed straight to storage without being wired in, so I can't tell you how they sounded, but..

They were completely undamaged, and very well packed. Mainly, however, they look GORGEOUS. Seriously - and I know this was said about the SP18s too - the enclosures themselves are easily worth a lot more than the cost of the whole thing here. I don't even care that I didn't get a chance to test them, because if anything is wrong with the output when I finally get round to it when we move, I can replace all of the internals happily knowing that I still came out in front!
