Because of me. You can't type that name because I "outed" the name of the King (his first and last name) in the forum a long time ago during the Infamous Mystery Box fiasco. So his name, first and last are "banned" from the forum, along with the web addresses of other entities owned by Thing Fling, certain street addresses, their eBay user ID and their phone number - all are actively replaced by other information in the forum when attempted to be posted. A script just replaces the string with other information during the posting process - exactly how when you type something in at woot! and it comes out another way - such as typing the word sucks at woot! in the forum there and it is replaced with the word vacuums.

Sorry. That's the way he wanted it. It is their kingdom, we just get to visit . . . .

So if I wanted to talk about king Lee it would it would actually be a topic about King Lee? I really liked king Lee movies...gosh I am old! He was a cool kung fu icon.....B .r .u .c .e. Lee. *edited because when I posted my words were jumbled in the sentance, so it's fixed....and I wonder why it does that once in a blue moon?

Yes, it retroactively changed all the information in previous postings, and no, I didn't spend much time looking at their eBay items. There are other posts (threads) that exist on the forums (long buried, it was ages ago) that have discussed at length TF's eBay identity, although they may have been since censored (suppressed intentionally), retroactively, within the parameters this thread addresses.

On a different note and not related to my answer to you, Greek, as the thread starter requested, maybe this thread should just die now that the explanation has been given.

BTW, the info is censored in Private Messages too - so please no PM's asking me for the info - I would not relay it anyway as I gave my word to the King, and it seems he has kept his in return, so we'll let it rest . . . TF can (and most likely does) read / screen PM's sent via their forum software, it is not a secure method of communication between members - I would encourage people that communicate any sensitive information to do so in private email and not using any third party application, as in this forum's Private Message service, or anyone's (any website's) forum - I'm not being conspiratorial, I am just pointing out a simple fact of basic Internet security that most people overlook. In no forum (in a public or private thread or via a Private Message - PM) is it a good idea to say anything of a sensitive nature.

I need to figure out how many flings I have gotten so I can be cool and have mine show up with posts too. I am jealous mine don't show. Have a great Monday!

I'm not going to say this to be subversive, merely pointing out a concern... So if this precise information is black listed/censored/altered then what would prevent someone from posting messages attempting to gather this information by brute force?

It could even be engineered in a way that it was not obvious for some time. I would doubt there is a motive for such action by any person here. It does seem rather ironic that the security measure taken to protect the information is also the mechanism by which the protected information is revealed.

Perhaps it is best I don't think of these things...

Maybe nothing, other than it would take, like, forever . . . they'd be long out of business and all dead and buried before you could wash every phone number through the board to see if the string is replaced - with number portability, it could be any number - so there are approx. 6.4 billion phone numbers in the 800+ area codes you could dial. Good luck with that one.

It's true that if you have no info to start from, it would take you virtually forever to figure out the info you want. But the web is a powerful (and very scary) thing, and by having just one piece of info anyone can find the info s/he wants. Just for fun, I started with resellerratings and looked up ThingFling. Voila..all the info you need to get going. Good thing not everyone knows how to search on the web. Like malongfe said, lets let it die here. Wink However, if you're the really inquisitive type, here's a hint of how to tell you got the right name, phone number, and related website. If you get the King's full name, it gets replaced by "King of Fling". If you get the phone numer right, it changes to "http://www.thingfling.com". And if you get the related site right, it becomes "wholesale.com". But you don't wanna do that, do you?

LMAO - yes, it would be possible, and armed with that information you could do a further Internet query to find out which synagogue the King goes to, his home address (off Molly Pitcher Drive - odd name) and home telephone number and even the gift they gave said synagogue in his wife's (Sharon) and kid's names too - but you don't want to do that either, do you? Let the thread die already . . .
