With voice clarity as clear as a face to face conversation, the CD4 series puts the emotion back into a call. HD sound brings people and their feelings closer together. The Philips CD4454Q/37 makes the most of DECT with crystal clear technology to give the best possible sound quality during communications. With Four Handsets and Expandable to 5 total handsets, a back lit blue LCD display and an ergonomic shape for calling comfort, usability is central to this handset. There's also an answering machine with 15 minutes recording time, call screening and remote access. All for the ridiculously low price of $49.95.

Handset batteries are not included??? First time I've ever seen a cordless phone sold, where they expect you to furnish your own rechargeable batteries. Almost picked one up, before I saw that.

Quite odd, I must agree. TF lists this as brand new, yet says batteries not included, yet the only other place I found selling them (on froogle), though twice as much for the full set, seems to indicate that batteries are included.. So if these are brand new too then why are they auspiciously lacking the batteries? I was thinking about biting on this, but factoring in the extra money and effort to rounding up AAA batteries (8 of them I think), I am gonna let it pass too.

Too bad. I needed a set of phones too. Mine has 3 handsets and one is broken. 2 isn't enough around here. ( I have a teenager. ) Without a battery, this is not a good deal. The set can be bought elsewhere for $99 and it looks like the battery packs are at least $20 each. $80 Plus in batteries would make this not worthwhile for me.

My GUESS would be that TF just copied the spec. text from another site that could have been selling a refub and did NOT include that batteries and TF failed to "proof read" before posting to make sure that it all matched. Here is what is SUPPOSED to be in the box per the users manual: (found here)2.1 What’s in the box Note The line adaptor may not be attached to the line cord. You may find the line adapter in the box. In this case, you have to connect the line adaptor to the line cord first before plugging the line cord to the line socket. In multihandset packs, you will find one or more additional handsets, chargers with power supplyunits and additional rechargeable batteries.Telephone handset Line cord User Manual Warranty card 2xAAA rechargeable NiMH batteriesQuick start guide Base station Power supply unit Belt clip (Country dependent) EDIT: Ok, I'm at a loss here as I, as well as others, have only found this at one other store and they DO include the batteries, so there goes my theory. Well, MAYBE Shaggy needed some batteries around the office...lol.

Hey Royal Court!
Can anyone confirm if the set does or does NOT contain the rechargable batteries. I'm sure a couple more folks would fling one if they knew for sure...

As soon as I found out that the batteries were included, I jumped on this! You can't find phones like this for less than $100 anywhere. Get flinging gang!

Anyone found any reviews? I am not comfortable buying phones without any reviews, it it too risky, even if brand name.

Does anyone know if you can use more than one handset at a time on a phone call without invoking the "conference call" feature?
I bought a cheap two handset phone a while back and if anyone is speaking on the base unit, the additional handset will not connect. So, if the wife is talking to someone in the kitchen and wants me to get in on the call when I'm in the bedroom, I can't.
Oh - the list is getting out of hand - just drop it already!

I purchased a two pack of Philips DECT phones 6 months ago for $75 and they work great. Not sure on model #s but same brand. Just picked this deal up for my parents.

Just bought a couple. To answer an earlier question, I believe you'll need to do an internal conference to include multiple people on a call.

No, I think you have to toggle the conference mode on the phone. From page 26 of the User Manual found here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/cd4454q_37/cd4454q_37_dfu_aen.pdf5.7.12 How to set conference mode on/off When conference mode is activated, you can initiate a three-party conference call with a second handset registered to your base station automatically if the second handset takes the line when there is already an external call in progress. According to the specs, the default mode is off. It's on page 35 of the manual. 7 Default settings Items Default values Handset name : PHILIPS Date : --.-- Time : --:-- Earpiece volume : Level 3 Ring melody : MELODY 1 Ring volume : Level 3 Alarm : OFF Alarm ringer melody : MELODY 1 Key tone : ON Contrast : Level 3 Auto pick-up : OFF Auto hang-up : ON First ring : ON Language : Country dependent Backlight : ON Recall time : Country dependent Barring mode : OFF Dial mode : TONE Baby call mode : OFF Master PIN : 0000 Conference mode : OFFAnswer Machine : ON Answer mode : ANSWER & REC Ring delay : 6 RINGS Message tone : OFF Remote access : ACTIVATE Remote access PIN : 0000 Call screening : ON Base speaker volume : 03
