So, first time fling was me getting flung. d'oh! I did bite on the $24.99 MB, but was overcharged on the shipping (over posted shipping cost of $4) and still can't find the coupon my TF account is supposed to have available for use!

Hi there, welcome to the flingdom!

You actually did not get overcharged on shipping, Thingfling has a.. creative shipping policy now. It progressively diminishes the more you buy within the periods between midnight EST every night. The first order you buy is a flat $6.. covers multiple quantities within that same order. The second order you buy is a flat $4, thus the reason why you see $4 listed on shipping after you make your first order. The third order is "free shipping" and you keep that status for all orders following, until midnight EST the same day, then it rolls back over to $6 again. It is a nice system on days you find yourself having a flinging spree.

Anyhow this is not a statement meant to ruffle feathers once again, but I hope that all of you who are very displeased you got a ipod video speaker/monitor system, allow yourself to look past the "ipod video" requirement and see that it has standard video/audio inputs too. Now if you still can't think of a use for it, then so be it, I'm just saying... think creatively, you might come up with something. And no I'm not saying we should work to make our mysteries work for us, but I am saying that hey if you're already in a situation where you got it, and you can't use it for the advertised use.. Might as well see if you can think of something else. As has been mentioned, it should make a nice little security camera viewer, a small little DVD player viewer where you can't or don't have a big TV, etc..

Going back to what I was saying about my motto with mystery boxes.. If I wasn't a part time ebay seller, and prolific gifter, or willing to find other uses for things then the advertised use, I probably wouldn't buy as many as I do, because I know that the gamble is not usually an items value, but whether or not it is useful to me. A lot of times frankly it isn't for advertised use, but I have found alternative uses for a decent amount of stuff.

I am still a bit confused, but do appreciate the response! Maybe, they should have a "Shipping cost = depends on how often you buy!" versus a system that fluctuates and doesn't equate to what's posted on the "Fling it" page.......if that makes sense!Confused

Again, thanks for the welcome and the explanation - I'm sure my status will rise up to casual flinger in no time!

Well, see thats the thing.. The front page with the fling me one button, the shipping price listed changes depending on your current shipping status. So if it is your first order of the day it will say $6 bucks, if you place that order, then the next time you look at the main page it'll say $4 shipping, because if you order again (even if it's the same item you just bought) $4 will now be what you pay for shipping.

If you look on the main page, and mouse over the "How do I get free shipping?" on the very top next to the thingfling logo, it explains. But basically it is this:

1st order = $6 shipping
2nd order = $4 shipping
3rd order and any subsequent orders = free shipping.
Rolls over at midnight Eastern Standard Time

Now but you can buy multiple quantities per order too, so say you want three of something and it is your first order of the day. You could just put the quantity at 3 and hit fling me one, and you'll pay for that item times 3 plus $6 to ship it all.

Conversely if you made three separate orders of one for some reason, you'd pay $10 for all of it and would have the free shipping status until the roll over. Confusing, yes, I agree. Can lead to some nice deals on a day with many thing you want, though for me at least that doesn't happen too often.
