I got the April MB and - meh. Yet I must add that I'm am intrigued. There's no way they would send something stupid with this, I'm convinced. But there's no way I'm spending this kind of money, no way... no way, oh boy, fingers are itching...

if I knew at least one item in the box, like say a really nice hard drive, I'd hop on it in a moment. I can't afford it, not knowing at least a hint of what's inside. My Flings: V-Day Mystery Box, $3.77 Mystery (loved by Shaggy and upgraded to over $175 worth of goodies! Thanks forever, Shaggy!), Sunday Mystery Box, Leftover Mystery Box, 6 $9.99 Infamous THINGFLING Mystery Boxes, Wireless Presenter and Laser Pointer for only $0.99 (with 'we owe you one'), Special Letter from the Court with cards, Leftover Mystery Box Part IV - The saga continues... (Shagged!!! YES!), Almost Mystery Box - Only $9.99, The $9.69 Fun Mystery Box, Back to Work Mystery Box – Only $1.99

Unfortunately no matter how good it is some people will bitch that the MYSTERY BOX should have been something especially for them or that the items, though worth way more than what they paid, are not the EXACT mystery they were waiting for. hopefully this time will be different, but I doubt it. Either way, thanks for the cool suggestion to TF wh00t3r and Alliesz, can I be your relative?

That being said, If this is TF's most expensive MB. I think it will be an awesome deal. Why? It's smart business.

Did someone say they didn't get poker watches? No! Worse... I got three of the SAME poker watch. That's about the only thing worse than getting three different ones (with dead batteries, of course). With that said, I'll agree that even one was too many.

I think the problem with this box is the combination of price and the absolute lack of a clue as to what it might be. As the price of these mystery boxes (or any item for that matter) goes up, so does a person's expectations. Based on past experiences with TF, I do not think it unreasonable to have the expectation that the "retail" value of the items to far exceed the price of the box. If people got incensed over the contents of the $9.99 MBs back a while - imagine what's going to go down if these c-note boxes are a let down. And remember - the claimed retail value (of the $9.99 boxes) was in excess of the amount paid.
I think TF is in a bind on these boxes. Look at all of the past flings and try to find stuff that is worth over $100. And pray it's not the laminator. How many folks would be thrilled to get that after having NOT picked it up as a regular fling. Maybe it's an assortment of pricier Philips stuff - DVD players, etc. Who knows. I'm just real leery that TF has so LITTLE to say about the contents...

My first order itself was a toss. I ordered 3 MB's on hearning good about them, I have heaps of Cell Phone Flashlights and the stuff. I am using this a return gift to most of the kids visiting my house. None were useful to me..
Sorry - after looking at the Poker Watches,Cell Phone Flashlights .. and the kiss-and-make-up god awful musical greeting cards that are sitting in a pile in the basement, I'm afraid that what Thing Fling considers "high end items" and what I consider something of value are two entirely different things. No way I can risk $123.45 on this!

Now, if I were to put together a $123.45 MB, what would it be? A digital picture frame, an external USB 2.0 multi-format memory card reader/writer and a 2GB SD memory card. Then pad it out with the low-selling items and the random stuff that typically goes into a MB. It might even be possible to throw in a decent close-out digital camera. With a $123 price point, I could find those primary items online and still make a tiny profit. So, it's certainly doable for TF and their wholesale/inside sources. The benefits: 1) It's a self-sufficient, multi-item package. It's not an expensive accessory to something flingers may or may not have. And even without a digital camera, everything you need is there for displaying pictures from email or online. 2) A big WOW factor. A frame would be cool enough. Having the supporting items makes it even better. And it's appealing to any demographic: age, gender, whatever. There would be a lot of positive feedback about this one. 3) Usefulness. Even if you already have a digital picture frame, having a second doesn't hurt. You can utilize it in another room or your workplace. Even those that bought one might have wished they ordered two. 4) Regret from the grousers and naysayers. "No fair!", they would scream. "That's cool stuff! We haven't seen this stuff on TF before!" (Actually, I've seen a digital frame offered before and they got snapped up pretty quickly.) Hopefully it would sting those who feel it's necessary to STILL complain about cell phone lights (It's been over two months people!). 5) Because it would be rarely seen items on TF, the MB would regain it's intrigue and appeal, probably coaxing more fence-sitters to take the chance on future MBs and attract new customers. 6) They're lightweight items, in consideration of shipping costs. The drawbacks: 1) What do you do for an encore? If this isn't the case for this MB, please feel free to use my idea in the future, TF. You can call it the Atomic Mystery Box. "A boat's a boat, but the mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat! You know how much we wanted one of those!" -Peter Griffin

"Brand new retailed packaged high end items just waiting for you. Plus will throw in a couple of little things. " Notice it says High end ITEMS. so probably a combo of a few of the higher priced items. Having read over the past posts I do understand what you are saying. Although I don't understand why ppl complain when they knew going in, it was s MB, like a grab bag. If I received cables might not have any need for them but maybe you could use them. I do think if ppl are not willing to accept and go on from there, maybe they should forget the MB and just get what they can actually see being sold. Anyhow, I wish all who purchased this MB many happy hours with whatever it might be.

I have been lucky enough to get MBs with great useful stuff (and what was not useful for me has been good for someone else, sooooo), so the resists are way down... and now the fun part, the anticipation! Glad I am home for the next few weeks, if I had to wait an *entire week* away, with the this MB beckoning to me like I had to with the $10 Mystery Boxes... Edit: Argh!! This has set off Country Joe and the Fish on my mental jukebox, I'll be doing the Fish chant and scaring the cats all day I'm curious as well but not so much so that I was willing to throw $123 that way. Please come back and tell what you got

Quote:"1,2,3,4 what are we fighting for." Yes,Mystery Boxmania Runs Wild!!!! The ultimate in mystery boxes. What better way to celebrate our independence then with "the mystery box of mystery boxes." Brand new retailed packaged high end items just waiting for you. Plus will throw in a couple of little things. There is only one box and you are limited to two. We think that you will really enjoy this Mystery Box and will be running it all weekend (holiday and weekend - Maybe until Monday noon. You know, long holiday, hangover...).
Also let's face it, we want to take the weekend off. And I don't care what anybody says, I really love this box. Since we aren't listing everything else for 4 days, limiting you to two orders and not allowing you to combine items, shipping is FREE." Will= I will(will) get that done. We'll(which is what you guys should have used)= we'll(we will) get that done. As for me I will pass. I would probably end up with a $123.45 HDMI cable from Best Buy.

I've been watching this item all weekend - and while the content related ads have been changing, the "other hot deals" has not changed all weekend. Coincidence? Or does it have something to do with the box? I wouldn't think it'd be a high-end digital camera like a Nikon, especially since the box has been up all weekend. But it does make one wonder, doesn't it?

Nice avatar, sfitzg3! I'm probably one of the few that gets it. (I had a SCSI-based Bernoulli drive that I used back in the mid to late 80s - yes, I'm showing my age. Then again, I know what a Hollerith card is. My mother used to punch "hanging chads" in them by the millions as her primary job. )
