probably a $500 Denon Ethernet cable.

I think a Mystery box should stand by itself and not depend on equipment you may not have.

My last MB included the following useless (to me) stuff
1. Linksys Antenna extender ( I have Buffalo, with internal ant). Should have come with a router!
2. Overpriced DVI-HDMI cable ( don't have HD, and if I did would already have cables)
3. Overpriced HDMI cable ( don't have HD, and if I did would already have cables)

It also included (Overpriced) 3' RG-6 cables. Whoppee. not even long enough to hook anything up.

I opened my MB live on wootTV.. felt like a fool. Out $36, for some flashlights (w/o batteries) and a Yahoo phone I also don't need (but is stand alone, so valid MB item IMHO)

I usually buy cheap cables at cablesforless. If it's digital, there's *really* no reason to spend more.

King Fling, how about making MB fun!

LOL

I love the price 1 2 3 4 5 or $123.45 . But sorry to say that it way too much money for a mb. While my 3 $10 boxes was ok . ( i mean come on a 3ft DIGITAL rg6 cable). There is just no way I would toss out that much money and I am in vegas right now and doing ok on the slots Smile

I showed this to my wife and she said, rather matter-of-factly, "NO!"... Does that mean I can get it?

It seems most people think it's way too much. I have to agree with you, but I'm debating doing it anyway. I'm into having new toys, especially electronics. I definitely think this should have been a huge almost mystery box. What I'm hoping for is some really cool electronic that isn't a niche product that retails for close to $200 (which thingfling got at half price) and a whole bunch of cheap stuff. I'm pretty sure I'll go ahead and order sometime in the next day or so because I won't be able to hold out. But if it's a large quantity of small stuff and doesn't include a very expensive item, that might be it for me forever on completely mystery boxes.

So far I've been decently happy with the half dozen or so mystery boxes I've gotten. Some stuff is useless to me and to most other people, I always got something (or two somethings) that I thought I had a good use for and I felt were worth the cost of the whole box, and then I always get some stuff I can either sell on ebay or throw on the table at our next garage sale. I like the anticipation, which is fine for $10 or $30 once every month or two. But over $100 on a complete mystery would kill my desire for these things if it's either a) lots of cheap small stuff or b) something I can't use myself or sell easily for roughly what the cost of the box might be.

It'd be awesome if this included a slingbox pro, 8 or 16gig thumbdrives, a nice digital picture frame, a 6MP or higher name brand camera, harmony remote, a squeezebox, radar detector, terabyte harddrive, cheap(er) LCD TV, etc. You see where I'm going with this. A nice high priced item that a large majority of purchasers on a site like this could use, and then some filler stuff. I know it's something special because it's the first time anything like this has been offered.

Maybe enough of the rest of you will skip this that we'll all get $246.90 mystery boxes instead! Well, at least wish the rest of us some good luck for our gamble.

Wow! $123.45????

As you can see in my sig, I've been a MB junkie, but the $9.99 MB effectively cooled my enthusiasm. In fact, I've been able to withstand the pressure of subsequent MB offers at TF as well as on other sites.

I've got a silent partner that is willing to go in on MB offers, even though he is unwilling to take the plunge on his own. But, I can't see asking someone to throw in $60+ on a complete unknown - especially if the number/quality of items cannot be equally distributed.

Throwing down $10, $20, or even the occasional $30 on a MB is kind of fun. It's a crap shoot. If I felt like gambling $123.45 I'd pack myself and my wife in the car and visit the casino.
The list is getting out of hand. Time to drop the details and just include a summary!

No way can I afford this much. It's summer, I'm spending my money an family recreation.

That being said, I keep coming back and looking at it. Shame on you

I wonder what it is, if it is really useful, if it is one of those things that I've been really wanting but won't buy because they cost too much.Drool

No matter how many times I look, it's not changing. Brick wall It's still expensive enough to qualify as grounds for divorce. Confused It's not suddenly giving away the nature of the high-end item. Not talking

But still I come back and look at it. Brick wall

After all, that is about how much I'll be spending on gas for this weekend's camping trip -- so it's not so much ... Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you

We'll see how strong I stay. Angel Pray

Wow! Think Think Think Think Think

Very tempting but a bit out of my paypal price range. I am with everyone else that a hint or two might encourage me to take the plunge anyway, but I hesitate when buying anything over $100.

I have no complaints about any of my MB winnings, but I seem to have a cable collection going on in my basement. I have no clue what to do with these things, and I worry about getting a few bags more.

At least I have a couple of days to ponder this one....

I cannot imagine getting shagged, though...that would be one huge box with tons of fun things inside.

I really can't have much faith that items like you mention would be included. TFs "normal" sources of merchandise have never in the past included such as you describe. The better of the electronics has been refurb or overstock Philips items or Altec Lansing. Remember, most of this stuff is true closeout or oddlot merchandise. I would LOVE to be proved wrong. TF is NOT crowing about how amazing the items are - nothing other that referring to them as "high end". This in and of iself is not enough to take the plunge...
