Mine is 20 lbs, due tomorrow (Saturday). It needs a signature, but I'll be at a funeral. I think I'll get a neighbor to hang out at my house to sign for it, I don't want to wait until next week . . .

Man, the waiting sucks! And the worst part is I am a 15 minute drive from their warehouse. I bought this on friday and it still says processing. I'm getting impatient!

Keasby is the Fedex location. TF is in Elizabeth - a stone's throw from Jersey Gardens Mall and Newark Airport...

I have decided this waiting is as bad as when I was a kid and had to go to bed and to sleep Christmas Eve so Santa would come. Angel

I posted this in the other thread. Print the info from the FedEx site, sign and date it, and write on there that this is your authorization for FedEx to leave the package. It's just like them leaving the notice on your door, that you can sign except you save the extra day.

Has anyone been able to leave a signed note indicating acceptance to leave it at the door? Mine was attempted delivery today, but no one was available to sign for it. I don't think there will be anyone available tomorrow, either - and I'd rather it not get sent back.

Being home delivery, however, provides limited options as far as pickup since I can't go to my local Fedex facility (at least not yet) and pick it up. I have to go to the nearest Home Delivery-specific location that's about an hour away.

FYI - I found out that when "Direct Signature" is required, you cannot leave a signature to release the package. That's what Fedex calls "Indirect Signature".

With Direct Signature, someone has to be present and sign for the package at the time of delivery.

Yeah, I had to have my packaged reschedule to Saturday so I would be home for it. What? The thing fling gang figured I'd take a day off of work to sit and wait for this? Especially, since Fed-ex was on my doorstep (leaving the direct signature note) while my order still said "processing."

Damn folks - if you are going to change the rules in the middle of the game, at least say sometime!!! I've had packages worth 10 times this mystery box left on my porch, no problem. That's why I have a release with Fed-Ex and UPS.

Now it's going to be 2 weeks from when I ordered to when I finally see this MB - and I only live a half-hour from Thing-fling! A lot of disappointment to handle and the box isn't even here yet.

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Hey, Flingers, you really put me down!! Sad

In all previous Mystery Boxes we had a bunch of cases that the carrier's (UPS or Fedex) system shows the status as delivered and at the same time our customers complain not having received their boxes.

BTW, we have never sold one box at this price (more than 100 bucks). This is the first one. When you are shipping more expensive items it is necessary to request a signature from the receiver. Besides, ThingFling.com crew did that to make sure that all of you will receive your purchase. But, you know, you can never please everybody, no matter how hard you try! Not talking

Next time we won't ask for a signature and you take the risk... Wink Better?

Well, I can appreciate that, but a quick email to check if somebody is there to sign for the package before requiring a "direct signature" would have been nice ! The package is only going to make me happy if I can get it!

The "Direct signature" is that part that gets me. Why is that being asked for instead of the standard signature required, which was already taken into account when I signed an "open" release? You changing the rules after the game has started - not to mention now I have to be home Saturday morning or they are going to return the box!

First off, I have to give props to my local Fedex Home Delivery driver.
He called me today after a second failed attempt - PERSONALLY - and said that if I wanted, they could deliver on Saturday. And gave me his PERSONAL cell phone number to contact him! Big props to Fedex for that one.

As to the return of the package, you can prevent that by contacting Fedex at the number on the door tag and ask them to hold it for pickup. I've done that before - they will normally hold it for seven days before it gets returned.

There *may* be other options as far as delivering to another address - and possibly have an extra added cost - but I don't know that for sure.

As for me, I have no problem with TF requiring direct signature. If the package is valuable enough, the shipper has the right to require a direct signature. Sure, it's an inconvenience - and TF really could have mentioned to us that it would require a direct signature so that we could specify a different shipping address - but in the grand scheme of things it really is NOT a big deal.

You buys your mystery boxes, you takes your chances. I've bought plenty of them, and while I haven't been able to use everything in all of them, what has been left I've either given to others that could use it or donated it somewhere.
