zenisu wrote:The batch of Philips cables is actually pretty decent quality and a few of them will get used right away (I did not have a DVI to HDMI cable yet). The cables are not HDMI 1.3 rated, but that's okay by me for computer use. The DVI-HDMI cable wouldn't be 1.3 as it doesn't carry audio and cannot meet that part of the specification. As for the actual HDMI cables, I wouldn't worry about that too much. The cable should still work with your 1.3 devices and carry every signal as even a spokesperson for HDMI (the group that established the standard) states that over 90% of cables (prior to the embrace of spec 1.3) do regardless of whether or not the cable states it will. LINK (last paragraph) I've been using generic HDMI cables for my HT setup for a while now and have never had any problems with them (and I use 1.3[a] components). I'm inclined to say that a name-brand cable would at least match a generic in quality. At the very least, an HDMI cable that fails in this capacity was the victim of shoddy manufacture.

My three MB arrived yesterday, and I also received the same fun stuff as everyone else. I was very happy to receive the shower radio, and my husband is going through the cables to see if he should replace any of the ones we already have with something better. The flashlights were quickly grabbed by the kids, and Gavin has weekend plans that involve Jesse and late night cricket collecting in our backyard.
*side note...he caught four crickets yesterday and one little bugger kept me up all night despite the fact I relocated the cricket container to my garage*
I am sure a few of the items (like the yahoo phone and antenna) will be given to friends or sold through ebay or Craigslist. What we will use, though, totally outweighed the few items that we won't.
Very pleased with everything...as always. Thanks TF!!!

I received my 2 boxes yesterday. I received the Yahoo phone (which I used to replace my landline phone in my home office), the antenna stand (which will go to my nephew), the lighted USB cable (which I plan to use), the set of 4 flashlights (nephews and others) and the shower radio (don't know who will be getting it yet). I'm happy with mine!

Ordered the three and got the same items as the rest. When I opened the first bag (oh no not more wires!) it got me wondering why I ordered them, but the other two weren't bad (the phone looks good). Course, they'll probably end up as gifts more than anything else. Overall it wasn't too bad, but I think I'll just stick with the "almost" mystery boxes, since at least I know I'm getting one thing I want.

I got mine today, a bit suprised it showed up on Sat. Fed Ex usually waits til Monday and the last several packages shipped through them have showed up a day late. I've built up a huge box of cables at this point. Was kinda hoping someone would have slipped one of those "girly" pillows into my MB, but oh well. Really happy about what I got for what I paid. Can always use flashlights and the kids are excited about jammin in the tub. Has anyone used thier Yahoo! phone yet? I'm wondering if I should open it up and try it out or not. I forgot to mention that I received the standard stuff. Did anyone else notice that the paper about leaving feedback has shrunk, and so has the coupon amount for leaving it?

Well My MB showed up today, got most of what others got. No shower radio in there and did hope to get one of those. Missing other things that were supposed to be shipped in the same box, so I sent in ticket about that. No too worried as TF does correct that problem. Nice batch of stuff that is well worth the price and then some.

I have read all over this forum and have only seen some very happy people. There was one incident but TF took care of their customers.
Take the plunge and you will be hooked like I am.
Eastern time zone.....I HOPE...lol
Not sure if getting hooked is a good thing or bad thing. lol I'll take my chances and see how it goes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? I did first order couple months ago. I have been shagged already and have had no bad exp. from them yet way better than "bag o crap" from woot I'm English and I can't tell you how much I giggle about the whole "getting shagged" business. NOT going thr...anyone?? I agree fully, don't go there! England and America are two countries separated by a common language. George Bernard Shaw Irish dramatist & socialist (1856 - 1950)

I got mine in on Friday- YAY! I love surprises.
My order consisted of 1 $10 MB, 1 $31.99 MB and one order of the free 10 Magnavox Headphones (just pay shipping)..
Here's what was in the box-
Set of four flashlights Dreamshock Pro PS2 Controller Cd holder Linksys Yahoo cordless phone Cardio Health Kit Linksys Antenna Stand Light up USB data cable shower radio Family Health CD bundle Philips Noise Cancelling headphones
Alas no shag... BUT a great value ($41.99 + shipping). Still trying to figure out what I'll actually use. Here's what I'm thinking so far-
Headphones (earbuds & noise canceling) will come in handy on an upcoming vacation.. PS2 Controller will probably go to my godson.. I needed a new CD holder. Flashlights, well at least two will go into the "Ready Box" that I'm getting together... and I'm thinking of throwing the "shower" radio in there (it's waterproof).. I see the Yahoo cordless phone, the antenna stand and CD bundle going to ebay...
Thanks TF for a great Friday afternoon surprise!

got mine... same as standard package. More than $36 of stuff in the box, but not worth $36 to me. (I lose) I don't use Linksys routers, so can't use the antenna extender (I bet a small percentage of mystery box folks can use it!) I don't use HD, so the HDMI cables just take up space. The Yahoo phone doesn't do me much good... I could theoretically use it as a standard cordless phone, but I already have a multi-phone system with spare phones. I *can* probably use the flashlights, but will probably be spending a bundle on batteries. I don't know what 6V cells cost now-a-days. They are not LED lights. I *can* probably use the component cable, but will probably only use 3 of the 5 leads. I *may* use the shower radio... we'll see how well it works. I *can* use the "digital" RG-6 cables.. but at 3' could be longer. I did enjoy opening it live on wootTV ( http://justin.tv/woottv). I doubt I'll buy a mystery box again. Robert

I got 3 of the 10 dollar mystery boxes.
I think I got my moneys worth. The cables are all high quality and they'll be useful, if not now later. I needed flashlights anyway, and I think they all use standard batteries.
The linksys stuff is more of a novelty, but fun none the less.
I'll probably try my luck again.

I did a lot of research about 6-12 months ago when I was building a new entertainment center. The general concensus that I could find from legitimate testing and normal people's observations was that the cheap 1.3 rated cables were just as good if not better then Monster et al. I got mine from monoprice, but bluejeanscables are supposed to be just as good. I believe the difference in the quality comes with the length. If it's a 3' or a 6' cable you probably won't see anything. But if you're running a projector or something from 40 or 50 feet away you better get the 1.3a ones. As for all the people who are saying they don't have a linksys router so they can't use the antenna, that's not true. The antenna is for tnc connectors which is just about the most common antenna connector on a wireless AP. Most brands can use it. If someone wants to get rid of one anyway, I'll take an extra! 7 A/MB and 1 'standard'
I've Flung $377.39
