The Linksys Wireless-G PrintServer with Multifunction Printer Support lets you connect a multifunction USB printer directly to your network, eliminating the need to dedicate a PC to print sharing chores. Using a PrintServer frees up your "print share PC" so you don't have to leave it on all the time. It also removes the printing bottleneck, and sets your PC free to do more useful work.

The PrintServer is compatible with most USB multifunction printers, and allows full access to printing, faxing, scanning, and copying functions. Like any print server, users on the network can print anytime. The other functions are treated a little differently -- any user can request access to one of the other functions, and get exclusive use of that function until his task is complete.

Connect the PrintServer directly to your network by 10/100 Ethernet cable, or wirelessly at up to 54Mbps via Wireless-G. The wireless option lets you put your printer wherever you want to, without having to run cables. Whichever way the PrintServer is attached to your network, both your wireless and wired PCs will have access to it, and the printer it's connected to. And if you don't use wireless for general networking in your office, you can still use the Wireless-G connection in ad-hoc mode to print from visiting Wireless-G and Wireless-B PCs.

Your wireless data is protected by up to 128-bit WPA-PSK encryption. A user-friendly Setup Wizard makes installation easy, the compact case fits anywhere, and the big print buffer handles even large graphics-intensive print jobs. Let the Linksys Wireless-G PrintServer with Multifunction Printer Support bring efficiency to all your home office tasks. And remember, today it is only $33.50.

Is anyone a user of this product? I really wanted one and I just got one in LOMB 4 . Now, I am looking around for information and the information I have found indicates this item does not work with an all in one. Is this true?

I have a Compaq desktop with Windows XP, a Toshiba laptop with Vista and a Lexmark All In One printer. Can this work without much effort on my part?

Thanks

The answer to your question is: yes and no and perhaps too. It is true that a standard all-in-one will not function fully through a standard print server--BUT it is possible the printing function will work--what won't work is the scanning function and fax function (as it relates to communicating with your computer)--BUT all the standalone functions you can do at the AIO itself (like copying, and faxing) will continue to work. And finally the maybe is that not all printers are supported for the printing function. You either just need to try it, or google to find out if anyone else has mentioned it works. ILinksys is usually good about having a compatibility list on their site (which still doesn't mean everything that might work will be on their list though). Confusing, I know, but I hope you can derive something of use from all that blather. Laughing

Actually.. this is NOT the one you got in your LOMB4! This is a newer version specifically with multifunction printer support. So the answer in this case is that this product probably will work with your all-in-one printer. The one you got in your LOMB4 probably won't...

If you want to use your model print server you got in the LoMB, consider that printing may work as I said, and when you need the printer for scanning or fax sending tasks you could just always unplug the USB and plug it directly into the computer. If you don't fax from PC or scan very often, that might be a solution. Or if you had one of those Phillips USB switches TF sells you could use it to switch the printer back and forth between the print server and your PC as needed.

Yeah this thread is for a newer model design for AIOs, I didn't read the first post either.

As it turns out, I just had a discussion with my wife about how difficult it is to maintain an active shared printer on my PC. Brick wall I'm thinking this showed up at the perfect time!! Applause And with a price at least half of what most others are selling for, I just can't pass... Smile True it's refurb, but I've never had issues. Now maybe I can keep this purchase quiet and astound the wife with my technical prowess of fixing the printer..... Shhh Laughing

Is anyone using this with canon MFPs, specifically the MP780? I already have a print server that works for just printing, but would like to buy this if this can offer fax and scanning abilities. Thanks.

ahhhh, thanks for clarifying.

BTW, with the netgear, you really only get what you pay for. That's why Netgear is so damn cheap - their products work intermittently and their tech support rivals Dell to recruit more Indians

Similar, yes...in that it does offer a wireless print server. Think For a bit more here, tho, you get a Linksys (not without its troubles, but more credibility to be sure), and multi-function support. For me, it totally defeats the purpose for me to unplug the printer and plug it into my PC just so that I can scan like you would have to do with the other one. This one I can just plug in and print/scan/fax from any PC in the house.

Actually, it was $38.99. I found the old link:

http://tinyurl.com/Wireless-G-Print-Server

I do notice a difference though, and that's the verbiage referring to a multifunction printer. It lists it here, but doesn't list it in the old link, so maybe they're different models?

You are correct--the cheaper priced item is an older model, this model is slightly higher priced, but is a newer model which was specifically designed to work with all-in-one printers, which the old model likely wouldn't.

Trying to find if this works with Epson Stylus CX8400. Not much luck. Doesn't seem that it has been tested yet. I would like to buy it, but not sure if it will work.
We love the Fling!!
