I tried going to a shrink. Especially after my son was almost killed in a car accident. But it just didn't help. I felt like I had to fight my own demons and guilt. Thank you for the support. It's been a long long long journey the last 10 years. It still seems too good to be true now!

A Dr of what may I ask? Please dont say proctology... RIght now I'm an internal medicine resident (basically a general hospitalist for in-patients) I round on the floors and do some clininc, specialty, and ICU time. Next year I start my Radiology residency. I haven't been a doctor for very long so I'm still getting used to it.

Found it, and posted it. In the gallery thread. And no laughing. I know the regalia (the costumes they make us wear) are silly.

So how long have you been a doctor? love the picture!
And if you ever come across a post with me cussing out doctors...don't take it personally. I've seen more doctors then I want to since my son was hurt in a car accident and I can't stand most of them. Just so you know...it's not you. I know there are a very select few good doctors out there!

I've seen more doctors then I want to since my son was hurt in a car accident and I can't stand most of them. Just so you know...it's not you. I know there are a very select few good doctors out there! I've only been a doctor (officially) for about a month, but I've been treating patients and managing their care for a while now. The main difference now is that I have a DEA number (I can prescribe drugs). As far as there being a very select few good doctors.. It really seems to me to be more about what kind of doctor you're talking about. Your son being in a car accident, you probably dealt mostly with ER doctors and surgeons. In general those are the two fields that have the most @$$holes. But like you said there are a select few AWESOME surgeons and ER docs, but most are not the best when it comes to communication and bedside manor. Having said all that, if you look at family practice doctors, pediatricians, OB/GYN doctors, most of them are really cool people and really care about their patients and it shows. The worst part of all that is that people have to deal with the not-as-nice doctors in the most stressful situations. So you're already upset and the worst thing in a situation like that is having the person taking care of your loved one to seem like they don't care, and not tell you what's going on. I've seen this a lot as a medical student and spent a lot of time following after surgeons and ER docs, staying with patients and families to explain things and answer questions. So I totally understand where you're coming from, and I'm sorry you had such a crappy experience. How's your son?
