What a nice surprise from TF! DD brought the mail in and lo and behold, there was a package from TF, thought to myself...wait...I just ordered those nitelights Saturday. Opened the envelope and there were music cards. Ok...so only 3 of them worked...thing is they didn't have to do that but they did. Thanks for trying to make things right TF, unlike most other shopping sites, you actually care what we think. Greek

Only 1 out of 4 of my cards I received actually worked. Nice gesture, but again sending me more defective garbage is not going to make me anymore happier. Not talking

So now you really owe me one. Laughing

Hubby called to tell me I have a package from TF -- huh? So, he opens said package and lo and behold - the "letter" and 2 musical cards (I think they work).
'
Thanks, TF - I accept - and it's pretty funny that I got this AFTER the extra gifts in the sunglasses box. As a whiner, I am now posting to say "thank you" - very smart gesture on your part! I will definitely fling again (just not MBs). Very Happy

So when's the next AMB?Bad Grin Bad Grin

I got the apology with the musical cards today too. All 4 of them worked, although they are pretty cheesy. But it is the gesture that really matters. I appreciate that TF took the extra step to show it's customers that they do actually care. Apology accepted.

Something to do with the Cell Phone lights, aside from fixing them:

They work fairly well if you adhere them to each other, (sticky side to sticky side) granted you can't stick them to a cell phone now, but at least now you have handy pocket flashlight.

I was also contemplating adhering them to my nephew's cats paws, so that she could have her own version of those shoes they make for kids that light up every time you take a step, but remembered the reaction she had to just accidentally stepping on a piece of masking tape, so refrained from the impulse.

The glowing light discs have potential though, even though I don't have a car, I can hide them behind things at home and work to give an eerie glow.

Not one, but two universal remotes....No TV or stereo to use them on, gives me a reason to go shopping for one now. I still think that even with two remotes, I'll still lose them in the couch cushions.

The Cross pens make fairly decent brown-nosing accessories for the workplace, as long as your boss isn't a Flinger as well.

Hrmm, William Sonoma grill lighters, 8 of them, what to do? I think I will keep them empty, and work on my Kung Fu by trying to zap flies out of the air. I can picture it now, little voices squeaking "Don't Tase me bro".

The motion detecting remote outlets have a lot of potential, for keeping me lazy. I will mount one above my bed and wave my hand at it when I want my lights on, and when I figure out where in my garage the feral cats have egress, I will mount a flashing flood light to startle them away.

The magnetic window alarm, and the memo machine, I think will go into a geocache http://www.geocaching.com/

Strangely enough, I actually have a Palm that the keyboard works with, but I only use it as a glorified alarm clock/little black book (of memories) and since I have two of them, I am currently taking one apart removing the plastic circuit board to make 1" buttons from and using the case to make a little diorama type thing to give as a gift.

So useless as we all thought this fling was, if you persevere, you can find a use for everything.

Darius

In regards to my previous post, I was not overly pleased by my MB, but I try to make the most out of every situation. I forgot to mention that I also receive a multi-outlet surge protector, I had forgotten it because it was actually useful right out of the box, without having to get creative to figure out a use for it. You can never have enough power strips.

The more time progresses, the more ThingFling becomes a truly unique shopping experience that defies all rules. They stumbled with the $9.99MB - But unlike most every other retailer (web or bricks and mortar) who would just blow it off, TF actually listened to the comments and tried to come up with a fair resolution. People weren't happy with the first coupon so they worked to change it based on user comments. Then they sent out the apology with those noisy greeting cards. (I got mine on Sat and was so suprised) The symbolism of that simple gesture simply blew me away. I say that because I've done consulting before with companies to help improve customer service, work flows, etc. No matter the industry, there is a real commonality with most places in how they do things. They put the customer AFTER most anything else. ThingFling keeps breaking all the rules - and in a great way - by putting the customer FIRST. Name another website that has real people that you can actually deal with - who CARE about thier customers like the Royal Court does. It is Soooo rare. Phenomenal customer service is rare enough in bricks and mortar. I've never seen a site that cares so much about it's customers. Not only that - it also has a lively and real on-line community. (The blather on Woot hardly counts)

It's only a matter of time before other sites start copying TF. I wouldn't even consider it a true DOD anymore. They've created their own catergory and keep redefining it everyday.

Thanks TF for treating us so nicely. It really is appreciated...

I've done this with scotch tape at a younger and stupider time. 12 years ago? I still have that cat, I think he's forgiven me.

I received my greeting cards today. Totally unexpected since I haven't been in the in forums in a couple of days.
I'll enjoy them, thank for thinking of me.

Note: My mystery box is still in the garage. I kick it every time I walk past. I really can't think of what I can do with all those bloody lights.
I do enjoy the kicking though.

I guess some of you are a lot more forgiving that I. For me, a couple of crappy musical cards doesn't make up for the $30 I threw away on a box of broken crap. If TF really wanted to make things up, why don't they send what was originally promised - an awesome MB. What a waste of money and space in my trash can. I have purchases several flings before, and had always been pleased, and wanted to try a MB. When this one came up it was describe as such a "hit" that I figured it was the one to get! I will never ever again waste my money on a box of mystery garbage. Very disappointed, and a musical card just doesn't make it worth my $30.

And on top of everything else, in reading others' posts, I realized that the one thing that is semi useful - the t-shirt - I got only one of while others got 2. I got of the other items too, but they all suck anyway, so it doesn't really matter - just adds insult to injury to know that I got swindled out of $30 and also swindled out of the proper amount of useless crap.

i got my package in the mail today as well.. i got 4 cards..all work.. and i got a few extra items in my cool downz box.. i really like the cards, it saves me a little money by not having to go to hallmark to buy them..(the musical cards are my favorite to send to people).. and they usually cost about $5 each.. so thank you TF.. i didn't feel like you owed me anything, even with the 999MB.. all the extras were just a nice surprise... thank you!!

I got 4 cards and they all work too. I totally agree with feeling that TF didn't owe me anything, but the coupons, making them stackable, and then the free cards just show that they care.

What is ironic about the 1 card that works out of the 4 they sent. The 1 card that actually works is the one with the theme song from SHAFT, which is exactly what I received from TF, the SHAFT and this just confirms it. Brick wall

Yes I realize they did not have to do anything for us to try and remedy the situation, but to go and send me more defective crap WTF is up with that. Nothing like saying we are sorry about the defective crap we sent you that you paid good money for, here is an appology letter and more free defective crap for you to dispose of for us. Rolling Eyes

I got cards today too! Four musical cards..ALL work! Funny thing is..ThingFling hit it on the nose with Lucy AGAIN! She LOVES these cards..she always gets to play with them when someone gives me one of them.

Here she is playing with one of her cards! She tries to get the "little singing guys out of them" She was so intent that she almost fell off the counter! Laughing

Thanks ThingFling! Lucy said thanks for the fun!!

Ethel's afraid of them! Laughing
