I feel like I'm never here any more. How is everyone?
I've been so broke I can't even fling any more. Trying to get back on our feet, but we don't want to put the kids in daycare and me go back to work. The fun of trying to do what is best for the kids! It's great to be a mom

Yeah, I remember trying to make $1000.000 a month and paying daycare $860.00...it sucks . But now the kids are all grown up and I make lots more than that it is okay . One thing I can say from being a working Mom is that sometimes I really miss those days that I could spend taking the time with my kids. Going and playing with them. Walks to the store to get them a popsicle Very Happy or splurging on an order of french fries for them Very Happy . Now they are getting bigger and some days I wish I didnt have to work and I could play hookie just to spend some quality time with them before they are gone (oldest 16 this week, baby girl). So buck up the purse strings and jut be happy that life could be worse , nothing like HAVING to go to work and dreading it! We love you even if you dont Fling!!!!Cool

Yes! I finished it tonight. Talk about the most awesome book! It would make a fantastic movie I think. Anyone that is looking for a long, but great book..look into "The Host" by stephenie meyer. Definitely a great read. Sad ending.

Exactly...whenever I work anything aside from at a daycare center, I don't bring in anything past paying for daycare and gas. It's like I'm working for free!!!
I love being able to pick the kids up from school, hear about what they did that day, helping with homework, spoiling them with a mid afternoon junk food fix.
I told my husband I am NOT going back to daycare. never ever ever. I'm so sick of dealing with other people's kids. I HATE IT. Being a parent, I know that noone but you knows how to care for your kids, but damn....they treat daycare workers like crap. And they don't get paid much over minimum wage! It's sad. I made more at Wendy's then I did in a daycare center! And doing private care was worse.....ugh. never again.

I can totally understand what you are going through. I quit working when my son was born, now it's hot and cold money wise around here. I could have gone back to work, but I would have flipped my entire paycheck into daycare. Plus, the daycare we were using was fabulous in the beginning, then horrible when I went on maternity leave. All the good folks were leaving and the replacements were less than we were used to.
Now I can't even find a babysitter.
I know we've never chatted, but I miss you around here.

Melmo, just hang in there and somehow things will pull together. I could never watch someone elses kids....I even my balk at watching my nieces and nephews cause it is hard!!! Here where I live, the minimum wage is like $8.00 or $8.50(cant remember which one it has changed so much in the last couple of years) but I know in some places that is okay money(compared to $5.25 min. wage states) ! There are jobs in fastfood that pay $9/10.00 an hour , about the same as childcare workers. I would rather toss the burgers than toss the diapers !Sick But please dont disappear for long around here cause you help keep the conversations lively here Very Happy

Online sales!!! Make money..stay at home and don't pay for day care! And just think..make money shopping!! If you're not sure about say the antique business..which is quite easy..just takes research and learning as you go along..you can always try to find a good drop shipper and work thru them...you take the orders..charge what ever it is you would charge..place the order..THEY ship..you collect the money and take your cut! viola..online business! Alot of people on eBay do this too. Alot of them are power sellers so you know they're making a decent buck to make it to that status or they wouldn't still be doing it. If you use a drop shipper..there's practically no work involved..just keep up the listings..mostly copy and paste and be the middle man of a sale..you just have to deal with the customers until the sale is finalized. I've thought about finding a drop shipper myself to expand a bit more..but..I have so much going on as it is between my job and two stores that I might be pushing it a little too much..but..it's my nature to kill myself! You aren't too far from me, but I wish you were closer! I guess the thing is I got spoiled by my first family I did private care for. They were angels. Their girls were practically my girls. We even went through a phase where we had to get their daughter to stop calling me mom(she started that, no prompting from me). I miss them so much. Dad got another job and they didn't need me anymore.
Anyway, wish you were closer so I could sit for you! Glad to get to know you. Hope to see you posting more often!

hell I'd kill to make $8 /hour. Min wage here was $5.25...I know they are raising it to close to $7, maybe a bit more. When I was a daycare worker, I made $6 an hour. No wonder all the girls in there were barely 18 and just didn't care about the kids. I made $7.50 at Wendy's and I could set my own schedule, take off what days I wanted off. It's strange that this world doesn't think taking care of children is work. It is! It's hard as hell!

We've done the drop shipping thing, the ebay thing, everything you can imagine to try to make money from home. It was great money to start, but then the sales drop considerably.

My family went through a similar deal... It was a tough stretch for a while but we came out a stronger family for it!!

Working a few shifts at Wendy's or somewhere just for a couple of bucks during the week always helps. Lets face it kids dont stay kids forever and in a blink of an eye there graduating.

Dont think of it as making sacrifies for your self but making those sacrifses to spend time with your children.

Minimum wage is $5.25? Shock woah! I've never done the math when I get my client's income from them! With the price of gas..how can they expect someone to get to work to earn that $5.25 an hour? This country really does need a make over! Not talking When was the last time they raised Min Wage?? I've never paid attention to that. But it seems that was the minimum wage from 1982!

Yes..taking care of children IS hard work..that's why most of us GO to work..to get away from them! Bad Grin just kidding! Personally I could never do day care..all the kids would wind up in the attic till their mother's come and get them..you DON'T want me to watch your kids! Bad Grin Waitressing is another one you don't want me to do..piss me off and you're wearing your soup! Laughing

I've heard that type of story quite a bit. People who can love other people's kids are hard to come by!
I wish I were closer to SC! That would mean I might be living in Wilmington! Smile I love Wilmington!
I assume you are in the northern SC area, are you on the coast?
