Gee, I am the same way, but with emphasis on the dog. Maybe that's why "Guest" keeps stalking both of us.Laughing

Had a 3 dogs and a cat growing up, married a guy who is horribly cat-allergic, have a daughter who seems to have inherited said allergy. We've had 2 dogs, now just the one (other is in rainbow-land now) who rules the house.

Laughing you guys are so funny with that "stalking guest" Laughing

You guys are probably just animal people...I myself am really an animal person..love them all...even dogs...but cats just a bit more...it has alot to do with lifestyle and whether you like noise around or not..I myself prefer the quiet cat...you don't hear them clomping around the house or barking too much (Lucy sometimes barks but not ear piercing like a dog)! I'm not one for being mauled when I walk thru the door either..a nice quiet greeting is preferred after a long road trip home from the office. But that's just me...when I go to my best friend's house (a true dog person) she has two of them and woah...I need an asprin when I leave there..the constant barking and running around by the two dogs..and since she has vaulted ceilings and wood floors..it echoes thru my head! First thing that happens when I get there is two dogs bounding at me and leaping and slamming me into a wall with big tongues coming at my face...and these are small dogs! Same with my parent's new adorable puppy..it's so cute..but too squirmy..you can't just pick her up and cuddle with her..she wants to play and lick and squirm! Usually I can't wait to get home to my nice quiet house and my nice quiet cats who will just jump on my lap and cuddle up.

Now my Rudy was a big dopey lab...he never did any of that which is why we lived well together..he was more like the dog from "Davey and Goliath" (if anyone remembers that show) if he had a human voice..he would definately have sounded like Goliath! Laughing He used to scare people when they came over if they didn't know him because he would take their hand..in his mouth of course and drag them into the house and right to the pantry where his treats were and make them give him a Milkbone! Anyone who knew him Knew what he was doing and just went with it..but a few kinda freaked and thought he was biting them until I told them what he was doing..then they would laugh! I really loved that dog! He was the BEST Sad

Here's a pic of him after we got back from Trick or Treating with his two best friends...a doberman and greyhound (all three are now playing together at the bridge while they wait)..They got alot of doggie treats that day! He was worn out!

Yeah...he was the best dog ever Sad

Our Blitzen was not the lick-y type - more the "I'll bring you my toy and you throw it and I'll bring it back until I get tired of it" type. He was a Norwegian Elkhound - 55lbs til he got sick. An inside dog because we don't have a fence, he loved the snow but hated the rain. He spent much of his day sunbathing at the top of the stairs, until we got home and then he wanted to play for about 15 minutes and then sit on your feet.

Bella is definitely the lick-y type BUT she looooves just being held or sitting next to, or behind, you. She's a 5 lb teacup chihuahua and is definitely an alpha! She barks as a guard and she's a little hesitant around strangers, especially men, but once you tell her "friend" she's good. She's also the "throw and fetch til I decide I'm done with it" type. There are 5 or 6 little stuffed toys that she loves - 3 from the Disney Store and the rest are those mini beanie babies from McDonald's - and hasn't been able to "kill".

But they are my limit on animals - no guinea pigs/hamsters=rodents, we tried fish and they died in a few days, no birds. So, I'm really a dog person with just enough kitty to be interesting.

Our menagerie consists of:
1 Blue Neopolitan Mastiff-Bubba (see avatar)
1 Funsized Black Lab- Roxie, My son says she can't hold her Licker and she can't.
1 Black Cat-Elvis He's king of the castle
1 Mini Rex rabbit- Mr. Bunny...How original, I know
6 fish- no names but they keep staring at me, maybe if I name them they'll quit
1 Ball Python- Yoshi...he likes to sleep at the bottom of the screen on my lappy, guess it's warm
2 kids...well, 3 counting my husband.

We also get the occasional runaway turkey, 3 last time, 1 the time before. Posted them on Freecycle as Lawn Ornaments only under the heading Instant Turkey Farm...Just add water. Yes, some lady came and got them and they are now her lawn ornaments. Gee, I love living out in the sticks! Liar
