Just wondering if anybody had any preference as to what stuff packs your boxes. *Packing peanuts -Pink (must protect those $2.99 earphones from static discharge) -Green (biodegradable - save the environment) -White (**** the environment) *Bubble wrap (pop... pop..... pop, pop) *Bags-o-Air (seriously?) *Crumpled newspaper (last month's news!) *Shredded newspaper (now I can't read the funnies!) *Styrofoam (who doesn't like finding little bits of foam around their house for the next month? it's like a treasure hunt!) *Foam-in-Place (now we're getting fancy) *More stuff
Any I miss? My vote's on More Stuff! hehe The excruciating magnitude of your philosophical confabulations are simply too voluminous for the diminuity of my comprehension. 22

Welp..sadly for my business I use the White supposedly non static peanuts...SO not non-static..trust me..my cats hate them as they're chased by static peanuts while I pack boxes..but I can't get the green or pink ones at the shipping supply warehouse I get my stuff from..I buy giant bags of the peanuts and of course the giant industrial rolls of bubbles! I've learned never to pop them...it was hard at first..but bubbles are sacred to me and now I never pop them! Now of course when RECEIVING packages..more stuff! definately more stuff!

I along with my sister do some ebay selling, so package things up fairly often.. I like to reuse things, rather than just using once and throwing away. So everything gets sorted from packages I receive--there's the flattened cardboard boxes heap, the air pillow heap, bubble wraps, etc. THEN when I need to mail something out I just grab what's necessary from the heaps and pull something together. I am a fan of the air pillow things. Makes me feel good to reuse rather than throw away but you'd be surprised how many people grumble at you for reusing packing materials. I don't know why it makes them feel better to think their packing materials are brand new or not... Psychology I suppose!

I'm kind of partial to ThingFling's packing philosophy of filling the box with items to the point that nothing can shift during shipping. I've received four separate shipments from them now, and none of them have had any packing materials. That's mighty efficient if you ask me. Hrmm... I guess that's what you meant by "more stuff" TheEndless

Any I miss? My vote's on More Stuff! hehe It depends on what's being shipped. I hate packing peanuts because my cats can't resist dive-bombing the box and scattering them all over the apartment. From a "green" standpoint, I always reuse them or freecycle them, so they're at least not getting thrown away. I prefer biodegradable packing materials - crumbled (NOT shredded - they just make a mess) newspaper or craft paper or those special packing peanuts that are constructed mostly of starch, so when you wet them down they disintegrate. As long as sensitive electronic parts are wrapped in anti-static film, the actual packing material doesn't make much of a difference. The "bags of air" are actually a pretty good solution. Although they do result in non-biodegradable waste, they result in much less of it than a comparable volume of packing peanuts. But they aren't always suitable, since they will rupture if anything sharp rubs up against them. My Dragons need your help to hatch and grow! Please click on them!

I used to pack in rosin paper since I'd get it free. Didn't take long before I realized it was WAY too uneconomical. 2# DVD set = 6.5# packed with rosin paper! Now I use colored bubble wrap and (rarely) "Bags-O-Air". Even got a decent size roll of that pink anti-static bubble wrap for electronic items. Although, if I sold something to someone I know, I'm inclined to pack with more stuff, but definitely not food or toiletries! I like the bags of air. When I get some, I have fun popping them, then I toss them in with all of the plastic bags to take to Walmart for recycling. Packing peanuts are loved by my cats, but not so much by me. The cats rip them up and leave them all over the house and they are not recyclable. Crumpled up newspapers are fine, but they make they make my recycle bin fill up faster, so I have to make more trips to the grocery store recycling bins. I don't believe in having to pay the trash company to take my recyclables so I take them to the grocery store bins. Does your kids' school have a Circle of Friends? If you gotta pack my boxes with peanuts, put them in plastic bags first. I hate finding bits of peanuts in the cracks and crevices of electronics and when unpacking, loose peanuts fly all over the place. In bags, you can very easily reuse them, they don't make messes, and they still do an awesome job of protecting the merchandise.

I bet it's easier to place bags of peanuts in the boxes rather than pouring them and having them jump out and cling to me and the cats! I'm going to try this one! Although I never ship electronics so static is never a problem..but it sounds cleaner to pack my boxes for shipping! I bet my customers would appreciate it too! I like that! Thanks for the tip!

Anytime, AVA! I learned that trick from some company that shipped me stuff. I thought it was brilliant and I reused the packing material to ship my stuff across the country. It really worked well.
