awww..two pups! They're cute!!
Yeah..these cats can hold their own. When I first got Lucy..she was rough and tough at 3 months old and I wanted to get her a playmate since she really got lonely if I wasn't around...God forbid I shut a door behind me..she would make these very wierd loud sounds until I came out..but I couldn't get her a kitten since I figured she'd be way to rough on it..and then...around a month later...Ethel showed up and Lucy wanted her..so...Lucy got herself a 2 year old pet cat for herself!

We got Jill as a pup because Jack seemed lonely. They argued for a year about who was more dominant and Jill eventually won. It was funny to see teeny 11 lb. Jill climbing up Jack's back to hump him on the neck, trying to show her dominance! Jack was good to her and they are friends forever now. I call them my unmatched set...they are opposite in every way! "Well, I've wrestled with reality for 35 years, doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it." ~~Elwood P. Hey..I'm also the one that though BOGO meant "Buy Or Get Out" while I was at a Linen N Things sale Using a < with a D following means "delete this" in coding.
Coders use it to make reminders to do something or to tweak something.
For instance (Asterisks put in so the line won't disappear)
Hey AVA <*Demand more cat tails*> did you get a letter from Shaggy in your box?
Would be a reminder to me to ask for more cat stories when I finished replying to her Shagged postings. I wouldn't need to delete the reminder line as it wouldn't show up in the final post.
Hope that made sense

I'd share too! Scared! I can't believe you remember the Clorox Wipe Up's things that gets them stoned! Wow! I forgot I even mentioned it! Good memory! Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if catnip was sprinkled over the whole box the way Lucy was going bezerk over the box...she does have a good nose though! She has this strange way of showing excitement..she stands really tall and stiff and her tail does this strange quivering dance all over the place..she was standing there looking at the box doing this before it was even opened! She KNEW there was a shagging for HER and Ethel this time! Thanks! You're so sweet, and you make everyone feel so at home here.
You deserve all the good SHAGGING you can get!
Miss Lilly does a tail thing, too - it stands up straight and the tip quivers, and she chitters.
She isn't much for catmint, but the boys go bonkers over the stuff. Lilly's tail quivers too! Isn't that just the cutest thing?? Lucy's whole tail quivers and does this strange squigly dance....too funny! Some cats don't care for catnip..they say that every so many cats don't get affected by it...kinda strange. But she must be that one. My girls will do just about anything for a buzz...they're such stoners! Oh, Miss Lilly isn't indifferent to catmint, she just doesn't roll in it, eat mouthfulls of it, or rub her head in it until she looks like she's been jumping in the hay mow.
She does use the catmint infused scratcher, especially after I've refreshed it.
The boys go nuts for the stuff, though - rolling/eating/rubbing, racing around the ceiling and bouncing off the walls. Oh..so basically Lilly has some class and is way too elegant to roll in the nip eh? Ethel is sort of half and half..she does it in a dainty way but defniately rolls..now Lucy is more of a MacTruck coming thru the room when she smells it from across the house and pounces head first into the container that I keep it in and usually makes a huge mess before I can even get some out for them. She gets totally crazy on the stuff actually while Ethel mellows out and watches the pretty colors go by! Miss Lilly is very elegant, but does enjoy a ladylike nip.
The boys are like Lucy . . . and I have the knocked over photo frames, vases, books, etc to prove it.

It's so nice to have someone to compare notes! You know what's very wierd that she does..when she's just lounging where ever..if I walk into that room she does this strange head nod and churrups at the same time..like she's doing the chin nod to say hey what's up! EVERY TIME! She barks? Lol! Trins doesn't do that (though she does have other canine behaviors,) but omg, Lucy can't decide whether she's a dog, a cat, a leopard, or a human! The chirping thing, Trinity does, if it's what I think it is. It's a weird little noise that is hard to describe...like a chattering chirp? I've actually seen wild cats do it on nature shows, but I've never heard it from my regular cats. angelsvintageattic wrote:She's VERY athletic..we like to play toss the toys up as high as possible and she'll leap straight up and catch it in her paws..shove it in her mouth and land...then wants me to toss again! Trins does this, too! Or I'll toss a feather wand down the stairs, and she'll run and grab it by the feather, growling as she drags the whole thing back up the stairs to me. angelsvintageattic wrote:She's learned how to slide the pantry door open and pull out the bags of treats..she'll carry a bag to me and wait for me to open the bag and give her some. OH..and this is bizzarre..she shakes her food like she needs to kill it while she's eating..she makes a huge mess..even canned cat food! And..if she's being really lazy..and laying down where the bowls are..when I put the food in..she'll reach over with her paw and pull the dish to her and eat with her paw and not get up..so she's laying there in that cheesecake pose dipping her paw into the bowl and eating it off her paw! Haha...Lucy's eating behaviors are traits all her own! The opening of doors, though, is a familiar headache to me. Mine knows how to open every kind of drawer and door. Back in college, I lived with my older brother and he was always dumbfounded at how she'd get out of my room and make her way to the top of his aquarium (trying to scoop out some poor fish!)...so he set up a video camera in my room. Turns out, she would jump up and grab the door handle and hang from it...then when the doorknob would turn, she'd drop down quick and stick her paw through...escaped cat! She's gotten into a lot of trouble over the years because of this, lol. But now the room I keep her in while I'm away has every door and cabinet child-proofed or rigged closed. So one of her newest amusements is pawing at the top of the Roomba, or standing on it, to get it to start up. My other cat just stares at her like, "wow...you are crazy."

Ya know...it's funny you would say Lucy is like the boys because I've always seen her as neither male or female...she definately doesn't have the personality of your typical female cat...more male in that rambunctious rough and tough along with size kind of way..but..well..she's not male! I guess it's her bulk that does this..and wierd personality!

Something about them having a "pelt" and not "fur"...or something to do with them not producing the allergen in their saliva? LMAO! But I agree! I was worried about how Trinity would handle a 4 day old orphaned kitten that was dumped on me at work...but after keeping them separated for a month, Trinity took right to her like an adopted mom. They're inseparable now. And she's very good with my 17 year old Dachshund. She's so tough and mischievous sometimes, but then she's so gentle and loving all the other times. I think it's all in how the introductions are handled, and how the family pet responds to new additions...if your dog isn't aggressive, I'm sure he'd be fine with a kitten!

Lucy has a language all her own..she has several different sounds from the churring, chirping...thrips and warbles..and her meow is more like OoooEeeeeOooooo when she's calling me. The first time I heard her do this I'm thinking WTF is THAT? I love her head not greeting when I walk into the room..it comes along with a quick thrip (say it with a toung roll) It's like she nods hello and say's 'what's up?" MarissaUF wrote: Trins does this, too! Or I'll toss a feather wand down the stairs, and she'll run and grab it by the feather, growling as she drags the whole thing back up the stairs to me.
Trinity's out for the kill! LOL Lucy has one of those screaming monkeys and she drags that thing around and slams it! I think the screaming makes her think it's alive or something. Did you know that cats are the only animal that learn things like opening doors..etc merely by observation, trial and error and not by training? They watch how you do it and figure out how to do it themselves..not even a monkey can learn like that..scientific fact! Cats are way smart and have a longer term memory so they recall what they've seen even later on down the road, figure out how it's done and keep trying till they get it right! This is why a cat knows to PULL a door open rather than keep pawing at it and scratching like a dog does. There are a few dogs that will learn how to open a door..but it's only when they push the door...to learn to pull the door..they have to be trained and taught...never on their own. Trinity learned that the handle needs to be turned first and the door pulled...all by watching you! Cats RULE! I would have loved to see Trinity fishing at the aquarium! that is way too funny! Does Trinity like to sleep in the bathroom sink?? Lucy loves the sink! Sometimes she lays there like she's in a bathtub for her size on her back and legs sprawled out one end and her head on the counter! Otherwise...she loves to curl up in there! Oddly..if I turn the water on..she loves it..and strangely..doesn't actually get wet even when the water is pouring on her for a while! She also loves when I toss toys in the bathtub with some water..she'll play with them! go figure! MarissaUF wrote:She's gotten into a lot of trouble over the years because of this, lol. Your cat turns the Roomba on? now that is way too cool! I've always wanted a Roomba but I'm afraid of what Lucy might do to it..she's attacked the vacuum before..and it wasn't even on..it was just sitting there innocently doing nothing to provoke her..but..attack anyway! Ethel is terrified of the vacuum unfortunately! There's only one thing Lucy's afraid of..that's thunder! When she sees lightening..she gets kinda freaky waiting for the thunder and you do NOT want to pick her up at that time..I have the scars to prove that! I've never had a cat that even acknowledged thunder..let alone the lightening before the boom...Ethel could care less..but Lucy gets in a panic! I think something might have freaked her out when she was a kitten before I got her. I do know the month prior we had a mess of severe storms roll thru for a two week period straight..so I'm thinking something might have traumatized her.

Marissa, Miss Lilly chitters, too. I know doesn't she?? She likes to be roughed up too..she plays extremely rough..more like a dog! They say they are...the fur is different than a regular cat's coat..I'm thinking it might be the thickness of it so dander doesn't do what ever it is that dander does? What the hell IS dander anyway? I'm not allergic so I've never paid attention to this sort of thing. MarissaUF wrote:But I agree! See Lucy would probably see a kitten as prey...I just don't trust it with her..now Ethel is the one that would take the kitten in..she's quite maternal..but Lucy is the dominent one and very Alpha over Ethel..even when she was a kitten and Ethel was 2 yrs..although..Lucy was pretty much the same size as Ethel when she was a kitten..and Ethel isn't a small cat...she's an average 12 pound kitty! But I don't know what she would do with a kitten..I'm afraid she might attack thinking it looks tasty! She MIGHT play with it..but maybe too rough. Ethel would mother it to pieces! She's so sweet

Yeah...especially since she's been spayed...I would think that would make her not want to be scratched at all..oh..and it's scratched..not just rubbed..but scratched like a dog likes! Especially her chest..the harder I scratch her chest..the more she snuggles and stretches her paws out and enjoys! She actually will roll over and wait for me to do this..just like a dog will! F1's & F2's are really wild..how are they around people? Other than you that is. Got pics? would love to see your little family! Your females like the belly rubs too then? What about scratching? Lucy likes to be scratched like a dog does..not just rubbed. She likes it rough for some strange reason..but the wierd thing is..she doesn't care for being scratched just above her tail like most cats do and when you pet her and reach that spot she dips down instead of raising up like a regular cat does. She's like the opposite of cat! Tell us all about your babies!
