I ordered an item for $34.99 with $6.00 S&H. I received a non working item. I paid $15.00 to return it to ThingFling for replacement and got a refund of $34.99. What did I get??? SCREWED I paid over $21.00 in shipping charges and have nothing to show for it. Is this what one should expect by ordering from a company like this?? Is it a gamble that you take that you might get a good deal???

Unfortunately, yes. Most places would send you a pre-paid RMA box or send you a link to print out a postage paid return form. Here, you take a gamble and hope for the best. In your case, you got screwed. Welcome to the club.

Sad that is just plain not right... thingfling does sell some good stuff pretty cheap but what happened to the part that they stand by what they sell. I've bought a lot of stuff from thingfling and they were steals.. but several of those shipments had mix ups.. and yes they did work to get it solved. I do hope they setup a good testing and shipping process soon. I can imagine that with all the money they spent fixing problems with my shipments they could have used the money having someone do qa and having someone double check the shipments.

I mean for me it should be one of their objectives, shipping working stuff correctly the first time around for a good price. It gets them happy customers.

Hate to say it but ordering online instead of brick and mortar thats a chance you take. Not just with the daily deal sites either. I have had defective items from about a dozen different online 'Etailers' some even have brick and mortar stores but sadly not in my area or have better deals online. These include( have brick and mortar stores) Compusa, Bestbuy, Circuit City, Micro Center, (Don't have brick and mortat) Newegg.com, Geeks.com, Outpost.com( has brick and mortar name Fryes). I have had excellent products from all and I have had bad/ defective products from most. The bad/ defective items that needed returned I had to pay the return shipping and in some cases a restocking fee( most recently Newegg a vid card with a screw missing from the fan, paid shipping and restock fee approx $30 total for no vid card). So it is not exclusive to TF or even to the daily deal sites. YMMV

Flings Flung: 40 total orders- Regular items- 22 Orders, 40 items; MB/AMB- 16 orders, 23 MBs/AMBs; 2 Canceled( 1 voluntary, 1 bad batch of Batteries w/ Chargers)
In 9 months of Flings I have already surpassed my purchases of almost 2yrs on that other DOD site where it's nearly impossible to get their mystery 'bag'... lol

That sucks. Did TF offer to send you a replacement for the broken item? Or was a refund your only option?

Been a Flinger for nearly a year now and I step up to make my first post here to share my indifference on order returns with ThingFling.
Back a couple months ago I ordered the bulk box of cables and then shortly after I ordered the mysterybox that ended up being thr Phillips remote control.
Well something happened in the ThingFling shipping department where they packaged the Phillips remote and the supposed 20+ pounds of cables in the same box. The remote was separately packaged in a bubble envelope but appeared to be placed first in the shipping box and then the cables were loaded on top. By the time my box arrived, the top was split open and evidence that many of my cables were spread from New Jersey to my home. UPS apparently had fun kicking around the heavy box which ended up weighing around 12 pounds by the time I received it. I unloaded the box to discover that the mystery box was also packed with the Phillips remote visibly damaged. I wrote a help desk ticket to ThingFling and included photos of how the box arrived. Two days later ThingFling replied apologizing about the incident and stated a new shipment was going to be sent. It took nearly two weeks but ThingFling made good on the box of cables and the Phillips remote. Each were separatly shiped. The box of cables was definitley different than the one that I originally received meaing I had much much more.
About 4 or 5 days after I sent my ticket, UPS had a package pickup note left at my house. ThingFling made a damage claim and UPS was wanting to pickup the damaged box with the contents. The next day I set the box out for UPS and that is the last I heard of it. I never was charged anymore than the original fees. The damage claims and reshipping was all handled by ThingFling.
So it is suprising to hear that ThingFling would do any less for any other customer. I would suggest making another help desk ticket on your concerns. I have been completely satisfied with the help desk.

The item I received was defective not damaged in shipping. I contacted them about the problem and they advised me to return it to them. As stated in their policy they have the option to replace or refund depending on if they have a replacement. I received an email advising me they didn't have a replacement and were refunding the cost. I was not offered any other options or contacted in anyway other than to say they were refunding my cost. The item was an Acustic Research indoor/outdoor Speaker with a short in it. NOTE: I did first contact Acustic Research to ask about replacement or repair and they said it would be best to return it to where I purchased it. I would have sent it back to AR for replacement or repair if I had known I was going to receive nothing in return from ThingFling. ** Just as a foot note I purchased a ???? box from TF for $15 and was not happy at all with the content. It was all made in China $1.00 grab bag junk worth less than what I paid for it unless you cost it out at MSR. I didn't complain because I took it as a lesson not to purchase ??? in the future. Now this - what lesson have I learned? *** I sent in a "ticket" on this and will let you know what I hear from TF. Best of luck to you all on your purchases.

I just got my response from TF - In short "rules are rules - sorry - that's all you get". I guess they don't really care if we are happy or not. In my thinking they could have sent me a notice regarding this prior to refunding and given me an option or two so it would not have been a $21.00 total loss to me. Options could have been a credit to use on a future purchase, free shipping on my next purchase, another item as a "We are sorry for your problem" gift. Anything would have been better than this.
