Wouldn't it be great if you were walking down the street and a beautiful charming irresistible "person" (Hey, we are being politically correct) stopped you and said: "Pardon me, do you have an extra set of portable speakers with XSL acoustics for superbly dynamic sound?", and you say, "Well, I happen to have a speaker set in my pocket/bag."

Now you can say it. Philips has developed a set of speakers that are so small and lightweight, you can carry them with you. Better yet, they sound great. And like my wife says to me "It may be small, but it's powerful." (Well, at least I hope she thinks it).

We will send you 2 sets of this portable speaker system for the same price that one system retails. This way when that special person stops you on the street, you can be a hero/heroine (always P. C.) and still keep a set for yourself. Or you always give a space set to a family member or friend. Whatever, makes you happy. And if you are happy, we are happy!!

Take your SBA220 portable speaker system with you and share high-quality, powerful sound from any portable CD, DVD, MP3 or HDD player with friends. The speakers fit easily into your pocket or bag, and are protected by a handy pouch.

I am taking the highly unusual position of personally praising these speakers. When I originally saw these speakers , I yawned. Then I set them up. To say the very least I was surprised at the quality of the sound. It was that good. I use them at my desk, at my workstation, in the bathroom when I shower, etc. They fit in my glove compartment for easy storage. Right now, LadyFling and I are chillin' to some Zepplin.

My wife has been begging for a pair of these.. Actually a Phillips brand none the less. She is tired of using the ones hooked to my computer for her nature sounds when she is trying to go asleep at night. (Mainly because the computer is in the next room) So in for a pair. Then I'll keep the other pair for the beach!! Thanks Thing Fling..... the addiction has started.. Two flings in a weeks time...

I'm wondering that also, it seems 6 AAA batteries is a bit steep to power it.. or is that for both units?

I don't see one in the pictures, so I'd assume on the safe side of without power adapter.

I wonder how long battery life is then...

RETAIL of 79.99 .. Good pricing by thing fling on that. I have heard some philips portables before and I agree with the review.. they aren't going to be a mobile speaker set for a DJ service or even a house party.. they aren't meant to be. They are meant to be for portable music and if you don't crank them put out great sound.. can't beat them at the beach or on a picnic! (or if you have a laptop and hate the small speakers that are built in)

key points from the above review..

RRP
$79.95

Review Date
Friday, 10th of February, 2006

What's Hot
Attractive design for iPod users, Dual Speakers provides a wider area of sound, Good value, Bass Boost works well, Included Carry Case

What's Not
Takes 6 AAA batteries (not included), No included AC Power Adapter, Dual speaker design can be awkward at times, Some distortion at higher volume levels

The Final Word
The SBA220 sports a unique two-speaker design that has its advantages and disadvantages. At this price, we can’t complain about the sound quality though, so it’s a good buy.

(Now this is me talking.. if they can't complain about the sound quality of a pair of speakers with retail of 79.95.. how are we at TWO pairs for 26.99 shipped!!!! THANKS THING FLING)

I got these at that other site always mention here on a 2fer Tuesday. They were about $7 .00 cheaper. Even at the little higher cost , they are a great set of speakers. I would highly recomend you buying these. They are very lightweight and compact to carry anywhere. They have a surprisingling (?) good sound quaility with bass boost. It claims
to have a 6 hour ,I think, battery life , but mine are still on the same batteries. Go figure.

Some of these were made with an adapter, but the ones sold here - probably batteries only.

It's a fairly easy mod to add an adapter jack: Link to DC Adapter Modification

I'm quite pleased with mine - though I rarely use them.
