An alternative to IE to access the video stream -using your camera as an example- is to open your URL this way:

http://pilotguy.gotdns.com:6553/img/video.asf

from Media Player Classic (with a very good frame rate result) or Windows Media Player (using this last player gives you just a poor one frame every 5 or 10 seconds).

Depending on the camera's firmware version, you can also use VLC media player (it works only with old firmware versions, don't remember which ones) It is possible as well to see the video using FireFox browser previous installation of IE Tab ad on.

Thanks for sharing! Really neat to see the cam in action.

(BTW anyone who can't view the video.. It is IE only)

So is that the view outside your house then? Is it through a window or do you have the camera outside? And if outside how does it hold up to the elements?

Linksys Quality?

That's not an endorsement, it means it's slightly better than no-name junk.

actually, i kind of like linksys... maybe kind of like them... let's say that i buy linksys from time to time, hoping that they will be better than generic. right now, i am looking at one of my linksys wireless routers... of the two that i bought, they both locked up while i was blocking all the ports to disconnect one of my kids internet access. as soon as i hit update, they locked up.

had to use a special sequence of power on 30 seconds, press hidden reset switch 30 seconds, power down 30 seconds with the switch still pushed to reset them. a standard reset wouldn't work. so maybe even though i often buy linksys, they can be buggy, but they have decent (if you speak the engrish dialect of indian) tech support, although simetimes a bit frustrating.

as for this camara... (it's about time, right?!) (at least, i didn't say, "to make a long story short," because, of course it's much much much too late for that... read the amazon reviews, then read the tiger direct web cam and comments link, then decide to buy something else. sorry thing fling... this one's not much good... and i am not afraid of refurbs from linksys.

I have 2 of these and just flung for 2 more. Its a cheep home security system, I put it on the front door, above the guarage, and 2 out back. I then record on an old laptop to a USB drive.

Cons: Software have some glitches, 1) It can's see the USB HD size, and 2) you have to really know how to fool it to get recording to work consistantly. 3) when you turn of the wireless, the camera software still have gray out problems on other software modes/pages. Bottom line, they did not test the software in all modes.

Pro's: I can use their software to record, and replay. Replay is crappy, no fast forward. The file type is not well supported, so you are stuck with their crappy software.

Also as a network guy I don't use the wireless, just ran wires. Seems to be more dependable that way.
