Wow...those roomba schedulers aren't cheap crap either! Ok..the rest is crap...but the charger and roomba item isn't..and bonus..you have a roomba to go with! All for only $8.00? How are you snagging these? I never see them! Is there a special time or do they do it sporatically thru the day?

Well, bear in mind thatt the BOC is extremely hard to get, no just because of its randomness but also because when it does appear it sells out in no time flat. Someone said some people have been trying for years to get them, and they ain't kidding. Of course it's not NORMAL to get a roomba in every BOC, the vast majority just get the crap It's a lottery and certainly you odds of scoring are better than the real lottery. Just don't expect that just because you got one.. or three that you'll dget anything but crap. You might sure, but probably will not.

woot updates daily everynight at 1AM here on the East Coast. The BOC usually shows up in the woot-offs, which as near as I can tell are random themselves and then when the BOC shows up is random too. They sometimes show up as daily listings.. Like this last one was a Christmas deal, I saw it, tried to get it, and was unsuccessful .

Oh not to mention I got burned by woot the next night. Doubt Imagine mjy surprise and delight when I see the page refresh with BOC boldly across the title. Well I wasted no time and quicky put the order in and was ecstatic after waiting out the processing screen that I got three! Then imagine my abject horro when I went back to he product page and had more time to look over it closer and next to the BOC title is appended "calendar edition" yes thats right I paid almost 8 dollars to have 08 crappy calendars shipped to me. Wow I was grumpy about that one! My mistake for not taking the time to read of course, but shame on woot for taking advantage of the fact that a lot of people probably didn't either. But ah well, I've come to terms with it and let it go.

To woots credit though they doubled all the orders on that one... So yes that's right received 6 crappy calendars instead of 3 crappy calendars!

How could of mistaken the Calendars for a Bag of Crap? Did you not see the image of the product that takes up over a 2/3 of the page? - Not to mention the description under "I want 3"? Can't blame woot for that one! You don't have to read to see the big image of the calendars.

Well if you hadn't picked up my tone, l have let it go, and don't hold much if any malice towards woot, I was simply relating. There was a number of factors that contributed to my mistake. For one I use wootalyzer to track woot and all the others, and mine is cofigured only to alarm when and if the BOC showed up. It registered that calendar edition as a BOC apparently and alarm went off, and it is setup to go directly to the order page, so I didn't see the image you're talking about till after the fact. As for reading, I already explained that. I'm not gripping at all I really have no malice with woot, although I do think others probably had similar experiences. And really I've received the calendars already and they're not that crappy. So moving on.

We just got our second Christmas box.

1 Linksys WirelessBoost Card
Will sell for at least $30 to my boss
1 XBox 360 network cables
1 battery backup for phone
1 Auto Safety Signal system
Put in the wife’s car
1 Maxell 3-pack iPod Nano Skins
1 Maxell remote control for iPod
1 Zip-Zaps Trading Card Collector Book
1 Zip-Zaps car body set
1 Phillips 25ft RG6 video cable
1 CD wallet
1 Cord-it cable and cord manager
Wife likes these
1 Glo Wand keychain light
1 Ambico video camera bag
1 10ft retractable extension cord for Gamecube/Xbox/PS2
My son can use
2 Frame-a-lope picture mailers
Good for pictures to Grandparents
1 DVI to HDMI cable
2 indoor/outdoor jumbo thermometers
1 Radio Shack Super Sound Car
1 wall plate for two switches
1 cheepie round tool set
1 3-button USB mouse

I can’t complain, in fact we are quite happy with our haul. Some of the items will be given away and some will go into our annual yard sale. I should recoup the cost of the box in selling the wireless card. I was hoping for some of the Phillips Go-Gear cables since we have a 2 GB mp3 player.

Wow--Congrats on a great box! Sounds like they ran out of the speaker enclosures by the time they got to your box, so you got a bunch of other lighter items to make up for the weight.

Well, at least you folks are getting your stuff

I'm still waiting on 2 flings - one was ordered on Dec 30th. I got the email indicating that the package had been shipped on Jan 2nd, but there is no record of it on either USPS or Indicia. Today is the 7th. I'm only 1/2 an hour from thier site in Elizabeth, NJ, so I think that not having recieved an item 5 days after it has supposidly been shipped is not so good. Hell - it only has to go to the Jersey City sort facility - less that a full day in and out. Forget about the subsequent fling from Jan 3rd. No email, nothing - even after 4 days. Is this decent service?

Friend, click on "My Flings" at the top right of the webpage, that'll show you your order history and the status of each order. If it has been shipped it'll have a tracking number and the carrier used as well as a handy link to take you straight to a tracking page. If you can't garner more info there as to what is going on, then go on to the help desk and create a trouble ticket. Thingfling will straighten it all out for you. As the other person said thingfling also sends out UPS, it is all dependent on how much the package weighs more or less.

I know the process - but I'll use analogy: If I go to a restaurant and order food from a waiter - should I have to follow up to see where my meal is? Should I go to the kitchen and ask the chef what happened? I COULD - but I would be pretty pissed off. I make a LOT of purchases annually, both on the web and at mortar and bricks. I have a certain expectation that upon timely payment, I should have a reasonable expectation of timely delivery. And I do not believe that I should be the one needing to follow up. Remember - I'm talking about TWO distinct orders - so it's not like it's isolated to a single shipment.

ThingFling has stuff that I buy. It's nickel and dime stuff, so when it doesn't appear it's not the end of the world. Would I ever buy a big ticket item from them. After the extremely poor packaging of shipments (loose items with scrap styro chunks as packing) and the indifferent shipping - no. I a certain level of expectation of service from my local Audi dealer that I would not expect from a used car lot on Rt 46. My expectations and impressions of a site are formed from the level of service - as well as the products offered. With all the low-end (item-wise) DOD websites, the only differentation is service. Time will tell if this level of service will impact survival...

Hey, you can wax intellectual all you like, but there's no need to chew out those who offer advice. I don't believe from what I've read that you've even as of yet established what the problem was... You blame thingfling apparently, but thingfling isn't the one who delivers your packages maybe this is to do with the carrier. I can't recall when you said your order dates were, but something you should keep in mind is that thinfling's shipping dates are not always next day... Sometimes you can expect to wait even up to a week. As far as I see it this is a small price to pay for cheap items and free shipping to boot. But I don't even know if that's your problem, total mystery from where I'm standing. There is any number of reasons that could explain what your problem is.. For example TF often combines orders so it's possibly your two separate orders are in the same box. Who knows? All I and the other person was suggesting was that you be proactive about your problem since you have the problem... whatever the cause may be. If you can't find out why it is taking so long from the tracking number, then surely conacting thingflin to tell them something is amiss will rectify it sooner than doing nothing.

PS I will and have ordered bigger ticket items from TF and always been pleased. It's up to you, but you miss out on some nice deals. Also I for one applaud TF for reusing packing materials, like boxes and the crunched up styrofoam. They put to good use what would otherwise just go into the trash. And from where I sit old styrofoam works just as well as new sryrofoam. I have never ever received an item from TF busted up from poor packing. And even if I did, I rest assured that I would simply be able to create a trouble ticket and they would replace it with very little hassle.

In fact the battery backup fo cordless phones I received in my week 2 box had a dead battery from presumably sitting o a shelf fo way too long. Wrote a trouble ticket and the next day they not only sent me a replacement free of charge, but also told me it was unnecessary to send the defective unit back. There is good service in my book.. but problems arise for every retailer, it is always up to you to let them know there is something wrong so that they can fix it.

Don't get me wrong - I certainly was NOT chewing you out. I appreciate when others give helpful advice. Perhaps I edited my own thoughts as I wrote - I was commenting on the situation at hand. I understand the process for inititating a ticket. I'm sorry that "waxing intellectually" in this day and age has a negative connotation. I prefer expressing my opinions in that manner as opposed to profanity laced tirades. And it was the culmination of my experiences with ThingFling that led me to post my opinions. I would hope that in reading my posts - some insight into improving the site would be learned. I too would applaud the reuse of materials for shipping. However - when I recieve an oversized box with mangled items rattling around inside (the 2-pack of Coleman waxers) - mangled to the point that the item's retail boxes are literally shredded - that is not an issue of recycled materials, its a substandard method of packing that would not pass muster with either USPS or UPS on a claim. As for the items not recieved - when I place an order on the 30th and get an e-mail indicating shipping (with USPS tracking) on the 2nd - I would reasonably expect the package to be in the mailstream in a day or two. It's tje 8th and still no package. I'm less than 35 minutes from thier site so transit time is not an issue. I'm not demanding immediate shipping - understand that. I am expecting a reasonable level of communication about an item. If there is a backlog in shipping items - I don't have a problem with it. A simple posting on the main site indicating that there is a backlog woudl suffice. When a company is shipping 300 or so packages a day, keeping customers apprised of accuarate status is not too tough with inexpesive applications. I'm just displeased with the fact that I need to do follow up on something that other sites handle effortlessly. Please understand - the comments I'm posting are critical but not meant as negative. I really want ThingFling to suceed in the long run. Heck - I had no shame in parking my Continental R in the Odd-Job parking lot next to the Rag Shop. I know the value of a site like this. But for it to succeed, it need to avoid mis-steps. I advise corporations on how to reorganize and improve workflows on a daily basis - so it comes as second nature to offer comment on situations I observe that need improvement.

Ah, well said. Trust me, I have no problem with critical thinking by any means, what I meant in my earlier post was simply that you can ponder the situation as you like, but if you want it solved it may require action on your part, and if not that then perhaps patience. I am not really sure where the kink in the line is for your situation as stated, obviously not receiving the package--but why? The reason why I urge you to investigate a little more by way of making contact with TF is simply that I, in my own experience, have made a long line of purchases with TF, and only had a couple of shipping problems, both of which were easily rectified upon speaking with them. But it is my experience when I do receive that shipping notification, that the item actually does get shipped right then. So my point is that I would not consider the issue you're having right now to be "normal" it is odd that it affects two seperate packages if they are indeed two separate packages. I believe this to be a fluke rather than the norm, is what I''m saying.

Anyway--I believe TF is a good company that does listen to comments from the customers. I would suggest though that you take your comments and post them in a separate thread on their own, as this one is much too long for them to really be noticed.

I am sure that some do receive poor packing jobs... As for me though in the cases where I've received packages with loose items and broken up styrofoam the items were arranged in such a way that they were packed in there and not rattling as you said, so I cannot complain about the packages I have had. But I do see your point, I apologize if I over read on that comment. I suppose it's a bit of a pet peeve with me how some people are never satisified with packing jobs even if they are in actuality perfectly reasonable packing jobs. For example I recently sold a flash memory card reader on ebay for $5... I wrapped the card reader completely in bubble wrap and then slipped it into an appropriate sized (no rattling) padded manilla shipping envelope and sent it off to its buyer. A couple of days later I receied negative feedback from said buyer for "awful packing job, seller simply wrapped it in bubble wrap". Ah well, I suppose he would have been happier if his precious 5 dollar memory card reader was wrapped in the wool of 5 baby lambs inside of a steel reinforced box... So it goes. Well it sounds like you have had somje real negative experiences with TF, certainly let them know about them and the problem you're having now I do believe they will straighten it all out in the end.

Have a good evening.

I can add a little to the topic of shipping, I purchase stuff from a number of places and I have found that I often get electronic notification that package information has been given to the company that is doing the shipping, but that the package has not yet been recieved. It is an odd state of affairs. The shipping company knows to expect the package, and they tell you that they are expecting it, but they don't yet have it.

Most of the time when this happens in a few days you see the package start to move. I have had one case where there was no information on the package until after I recieved it. Then I got an email telling me all the detail of the item's journey. This was about three weeks after the initial notification.

I don't claim to know all the details of the interaction here, but what I think is going on is the package information is sent electronically to the shipper, but has not yet been packed, and is working through the seller's shipping department, IE it is waiting to be packed.

Got my week #3 box today:

1 - Altec Lansing XM3020 speaker docking system
2 - Philips Cordless Phone and Answering Machine
3 - Philips expansion phone handset and station (for the above cordless phone!)
4 - Slim Mini-vac (runs on 2 AA's)
5 - Screwdriver bit set
6 - Metal necklace with moon (though looks more like Pac Man)
7 - Metal necklace with teddy bear
8 - Maxell USB-to-30-pin adapter
9 - Radio Shack cell phone holster
10 - Radio Shack cell phone carry case
11 - Zip Zaps body kit
12 - Superstreet XMods motor upgrade kit
13 - Small car (maybe for one of the above two kits?)
14 - Basic AV cable
15 - Rivet cell phone clip
16 - Sandisk 64 MB Compact Flash card
17 - 60 GB I-Pod rubber skins (3)
18 - Microbead pillow with woman's outline

Great haul overall, probably the best of the three weeks. For the phones and docking system alone, it was worth it. I will probably give most of the other stuff to friends, but I am satisfied. Thanks Thing Fling!!!

Looks like a very good box. They must of stepped it up a bit due to the poor reactions to the first 2 boxes. I'll be the first to admit they are sending usable items in this one instead of accessories. Unfortunately I didn't buy one since I busted 60 bucks on junk that I haven't been able to use or even give away to family and friends.

Good job on box 3 thingfling!
