You can pick up an item like this one at almost any discount store (or gas station, for that matter) for about $5.

Since when does the FDA have to monitor the shipment of lasers? This is the same FDA which stands for Food and Drug Administration right? A laser is not even remotely a food, and it's a huge stretch to call this laser pointer some kind of drug. Laughing

Well, the FDA says that anything used to Diagnose, Treat or Cure any ailment of the body is considered a drug.

This kind of laser, when concentrated the right way, and focused on the pupil, can reshape the lens of the eye to treat vision problems.

Stupid crap I know, but there ya go.

***Disclaimer***
This statement in no way is meant to Diagnose, Treat or Cure any bodily ailment.

There, now the FDA shouldn't bother me. Pray

A number of which are installed backwards, so it projects stuff like "uoY evoL I"

Well, that's unique, I guess!

Cool attachments but dollar store quality. Might last a few hours or days before breaking.

Ah, now I'm seeing the relevance of the FDA. If pot is included I'm sure they'll want to be involved. Shock

Still, I'm in for two. I hope for my cats' sake one of the "potterns" is a mouse or birdie. Smile

Sorry to say, but this puny laser doesn't pack enough punch to treat anything. What it could do, though, is burn a small spot on the retina of anyone dumb enough to shine it into their eye, much as staring at the sun can do.

And no surgeon reshapes the lens of the eye with a laser. The cornea, yes. The iris, yes. The posterior lenticular capsular bag, yes. Even the retina. But not the lens. Sorry.

And when a laser is used in eye surgery it's of another type, such as an argon gas or yag laser.

You'll just have to trust me on this. It's my job.

I certainly would not shine this or any other light into my eye, but I do know that a standard lasar pointer is what the accupuncturist used to treat my carpal tunnel syndrome. Turn on the lasar, put the business end against the wrist where it joins the hand at the base of the thumb and hold it there for about 10 minutes. I did it at home when I had a problem. Figure it held off the surgery by about a year. YMMV.

For anyone who really cares about the FDA thing, here is the reference, it is about the type of laser re. it's strength

i have waited some 10 years to buy one of these things. i'm only 23 but i'm about to sound like an old man... back when these things were available for purchase you could buy one with MMAAAYbBE 3 attachments (but most came with just the dot...) and that would've been $25 or more. well i held out and 10 years later i'm buying with over 40 attachments, thats nuts! i'll bet i only use 2, or one, or zero lol Dancing
