I purchased this last time it was here... felt I had to chime in with a small review.

Nice phone, excellent build quality... speakerphone option is nice!

Hooked it up to WinXP and my POTS (plain old telephone service) line.
Regular phone calls work fine with caller id etc....

For skype integration, it uses a system-tray application which connects
to some skype apis for your skype client. It doesn't appear to change anything
on the desktop, but I _think_ skype needs to be running and logged in.

You right-click the system-tray icon to set skype use for handset or PC.
While in PC mode, skype uses the default windows input/output.
While in handset mode, it uses the handset instead.

When I try to have the PC make skypeout calls while in 'use handset' mode,
I get no audio, but switching back n forth isn't too cumbersome.

For skype use, you can hit the skype button and browse your contacts list
(for skype-to-skype for only... it seems to skip the skype-out contacts
[skypeout operates on the handset, but slightly differently]).
The display only shows so many characters, so be careful when you rename your contacts.. you only get about 14-16 chars displayed.

For skype-out use, you _first_ dial your number, _then_ press the skype key.

Works like a charm!

Hi, my phone finally arrived... has anyone had any trouble getting it to work?

When I first installed it, the auvi software would hang while trying to connect to skype and I never got the skype authorization request.

I upgraded to the latest version of skype and downloaded version 1.2 of the Auvi software and finally it found skype and the skype authorization appeared but it still seems to hang while trying to connect.

Has anyone had this problem?

I'm running it on an older p4 1.4 with 2gb ram.

Practically nothing is compatible with XP x64.

I should know, I tried to use it as my primary OS for 6 months. Switched to Vista 64-bit and have been happy since.

i bought this phone a few months ago off TF. i was very weary because it is NOT vista compatible, but someone posted a workaround and i was sold.

i purchased skypout for 3$ a month as i have really bad reception in my room and no landline. The phone works great!
call quality is great, reception really is astonishing as i had it on the floor in my room for a while and was able to get reception throughout the house (2k sq ft). didn't really expect that from this phone but it delivers.

kinda need to read the manual before using the phone. it explains a lot of the features which may not be very obvious.

i definitely recommend this product!

I figured out how to get this working in Vista Dancing . Takes a bit of twiddling but I got it.

First, run the setup program in XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode (right click/Properties). This fools the installer.

One thing I did was plug the base in before I ran the installer. At which time it /did/ shift sound to the Auvi and away from the sound card. Not sure if you wait to plug it in when told by the installer if this will happen.

Once installed, OK Skype to let it connect.

If your speakers went mute, right click on the speaker icon and choose Playback devices. Set the sound card back to the default. Ditto your recording device if you need to.

Over in Skype, select Tools/Options/Audio. Set all 3 audio options to the Auvi. Save and ***restart Skype.*** You must restart Skype.

Another thing I did was to also set the Dual Mode Cordless Phone program in the Startup folder to XP compatibility. It may or may not help, but things are working so I'm not changing it back Shhh""

My guess is you're asking whether it will slow down your connection?
if that is the case, then it depends on what tier dsl (speed) you have.
if you have used Skype or other voip services before with no problem then you should have no problems. all this phone does is act as a handset for skype and also as a landline cordless phone. it won't effect any of your networking setting other than just taking up the bandwith skype requires for in/out calls.

Have purchased 2 of these and they are decent, but far from perfect. My biggest problem is that the handset keeps losing the Skype contact list. Sometimes just waiting takes care of it, sometimes power cycling the 'router' (base station) does it.

Definitely needs an update, but if Auvi is gone, I don't see that happening.

Only thing I can say is to follow the directions exactly when you set it up. When I set mine up I had issues because I think I had the unit plugged in before installing the software or something instead of installing then plugging it in.

Aside from that, once I got it working its been great... nice and clear. The only other issue is that my family didnt bother to answer my calls at first because the number showed up on call-display as 123-456-7890 and they thought I was a telemarketer
