You can find more GOOD about this phone than bad.

Thats what most people do to try and talk their self out of buying something, find all they can (or cant) bad about it. In this case that would be a problem unless you go on this one review. But to each their own I guess.

Do you have any other sources to back up that claim? Based solely upon reading the review that you linked, I don't see anywhere were it says the phone'll only work with Skype. It says the phone is skype based, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't work with other services. In fact the review refers to a "skype mode" and a "normal mode" which could be interpreted as meaning that though the modes are seperate, the phone could be used in normal mode with another service.

Also I disagree with that review, I don't think the phone looks ugly.

Normal mode refers to being able to use it for regular (non-skype) phone calls as well, as it has an RJ-11 jack to plug into the phone line. It does not refer to other VoIP services. This is locked into Skype, as Skype is a proprietary VoIP protocol.

This is the same phone as the USR 9630, but in a different colour (they're ALL manufactured by a third party and then branded/licensed to vendors).

The basic concept is that this is a box that plugs into your USB port and your RJ-11 jack. For 'VoIP' use, your computer must be on, configured to use this as an audio device, and Skype must be installed and running.

I've owned this identical model for several months now. It's a great phone. I use it with Skype and have yet to have any issues. The range is decent as well. I can go anywhere in my house and yard and still receive great reception.

I highly recommend it, especially if you do a lot of long distance or toll calls. It can save you big $$$.

Does anyone know if the charger supports 220V? I'm in the lookout for a phone that would work in Europe as well. Hope I'm not asking for too much. Very Happy

Shame on you Not compatible with vista. Will take the sound away from your PC when connected.
ThingFling should mention vista incompatibility to prevent customers being fooled.

I have it and I still repent. Check their website. Incompatibility is mentioned in very small letters under the picture of the phone.
Most of their products are incompatible with vista.
