I think another great use for the UB Kool would be for the bumps and bruises that all kids get. My daughter is an ice pack nut. She bumps herself she wants ice. This is so much easier than making an ice pack for all the little bruises. So if you've got kids or are a teacher / daycare worker this should come in handy.

is the fan in the ub cool supposed to spin at all? I figured out what it does after thinking it was broke. (A little led light showing power would have been nice) but does the fan blow on the grill when it gets too hot? My fan doesn't spin at all but i havent had it on for long. Im afraid if the fan is broke that it could be a fire hazard.

Other than that im pleased with my MB. Im not expecting to use everything. I just like a lot of random trinkets and gadgets which I got. Thanks King!

C'mon Thingfling, please HELP me and send my mystery bag to my address. I have already waited long. Is that what i am getting for being a nice customer???

I have already created ticket number 370-0E20B162-1122 for my problem but still no resolution. I receive one useless reply, I replied to that, and now no response yet!!! You guys have sent my last order (mystery bag-iv) to the wrong address...somewhere in Decatur-GA and I live in Los Angeles-CA. Order 3 items before, never had any problem, and now suffering really badly. I heard you guys have really good customer service..is that what you call customer service!!!

Thingfling, King, Queen, Somebody please HELP!

Atleast give me a call (look in ticket # for my number) or give me your number if email is such a hassel!

Please resolve ASAP.

Some more info on the UB-Kool for the curious:

Their web site (theubkool.com)
A manual (In PDF format)

Notice all the pictures on the website and in the manual are of a model whose head is fixed in place, unlike the swivelable ones we received from thingfling. Which leads me to believe we either got a updated model or a deluxe model of sorts.

Scaredwitless, if my UB Kool worked the way yours does, I'd be quite happy. When I placed it near my ear, I could hear the exhaust so I know it was "working" but the disk never got anything resembling cold, let alone icy cold. Reading over the posts here, it seems like about half of us got defective and/or broken ones. I'll add that I think we got the discontinued model, not the updated one. This is a closeout site afterall.

As per the Kings post in the forums:

King of Fling wrote:
**********Special Notice: Everyone who purchased at least 1 one of these boxes(bags) will be getting a $ 5.00 credit. Unlike some other sites, this is NOT a coupon for future use..... It will be a five dollar credit, per customer, on either your paypal account or your credit card.
We sold alot of these, this will take a week or so for us to enter so be patient. Please wait for your next credit card statement before opening a helpdesk ticket about this.
We have no obligation to do this other then making things as right as possible for both our loyal flingers and new flingers !!

I hope this makes everyone feel better.....(I know I don't, you know what this will cost us ??)

Please spread the word about this. Email will go out next week to everyone. Have a great weekend !

Thanks,

King

Just to add voice to others opinion and acknowledge King's message about $5 credit

The items are definitely not worth what was charged, it almost makes a joke of our consumer choice thinking we will be glad with the shining light thingies... The UB cool, well, enuf said on that one.

The credit is good to keep relationships. It is more a gesture than anything else, and I like that from the King

The positioning of the mystery bag - the sales pitch - I have an issue with. It was untrue, it was overpositioned and for me, puts a serious qustion on the credibility on the stuff that "can" be passed on. Remember the $25 box few months ago with all the Radio Shack rejected stuff....twice bitten, forever shy.

I look ahead for the credit, definitely no more mystery bags.

Ok guys, I am really upset with TF. I had ordered 3 MB's before and always felt happy with my purchase but this time feelings are totally different. I think this is a call for me to listen to my GF and stop buying any more MB.

Yesterday, finally i have received my Mystery Bag after it was sent to the wrong address. Almost after 16 days, hoping that may be something good inside will relieve my pain, here is what I got;

1 card thing
1 little neon light
1 little neon light that you waer over your neck
1 UB Kool and thats it!

Now, here is the most bad part...the UB Kool doesn't even work!!!!

Now to send UB kool back, i have to suffer shipping expense. So even if i am getting $5.00 back, do you guys honestly think that for 3 unwanted items my $6.99 worth it?

In case if you forgot, here is what the original description of this MB was;

"The Best $11.99 Mystery Bag On The Market

It is time for the best Mystery Bag on the market. This week is going to be a blast - all new items. That is correct. Every item in these Mystery Bags have never been offered for sale by us. As Tony The Tiger would say, these items "are grrrreat!" In fact, I am going to order them even though I know what they are. And guess what? No iPod accessories. No batteries. No battery charges. No cables. No bags (or purses). Nothing you could think of. No, its not a corvette."

So do you honestly think that; .... Your MB was the Best...Its the best MB on the Market.....It was a blast for you.....The items were grrrreat......in fact you will order another one if you get a chance...????????????????

Oh I see you did find this thread. I replied to your other post on the DoD thread unfortunately. Anyway, yes I think it was a good mystery box and worth it. I for one am very happy with the UB-Kool and feel that was worth it alone.

First read through my description of how the UB-Kool works above on this page, to make sure yours really is broken. If it is get in touch with thingfling--They'll try to rectify it, and how knows it might be in a way that you like too.

Confused I got 3x. Laser level, car light, the personal cooler thing, ionizer (what the hell's that do, anyway? I can't find any info on it online) a laser pointer and various LED gadgets. All in all, worth the $; my only complaint is that ALL the LED gadgets except the neoglo had exploded or dead batteries in them.

also I wish thingfling had sent usps or warned me they'd ship UPS, I had to reroute it and it took an extra couple days.

Received my 3x MB yesterday:

Laser level w/case
Portable ionizer (now ionizing the inside of a trash can Smile)
Various LED items (good batteries in all of them)
A quantity of framealopes (wife likes these - she's a crafter)
Some shredded newspaper

I'd be slightly upset if the laser level wasn't there as some have reported, but all in all it was a fair value.

I ordered two and got

the multi use flashlight thing which is decent and will come in handy
the portable ionizer which stopped working in just under 24 hours
some utterly pointless picture card things(what were they thinking there?)
and a bunch of light stick things and its a good thing im planning on rolling again sometime soon. Wink

Not happy with it overall. the $5 credit has at least kept my faith in the site, doubtfully anymore mystery bags tho.

Well, mine showed up yesterday and I basically got everything that everyone else did (i ordered 3), except I didn't get the light w/ the flourescent bulb... honestly, i'd rather have that though than those framealope things.. but oh well, the rest is all neat stuff.. the level seems like the major prime item in it, and i'm fine w/ that, the ionizer and u b kool all work fine.. so i still have faith in thingfling (as compared to woot)..

Got my stuff today. Main items, laser level, ionizer and UB cool same as others.

UB cool works very poorly whether by design or by malfunction.
Disk temp. measured with a Fluke 62 mini IR thermometer after about 5 minutes in a very comfortable air conditioned room got down to a bone chilling 60 degrees. BRRR!! Rolling Eyes

Mostly all the same useless light junk others got as well.

Pretty disatisfying overall.

I could be wrong about this but i think the temperature the UB Kool is capable of in either direction varies, and I think it varies by environmental temperature. As in if it is hotter room temperature i think the blue disc can achieve colder temps. I could be very wrong, I have no proof to back that up except with what I perceive--unfortunately I do not own a IR thermometer or else I'd conduct experiments. But I wanted to throw that notion out just in case it has some truthful value. Perhaps you can reconduct your temperature experiment on the UB Kool in a hotter environment then a ACed room, and then let us know? I'd appreciate having some light shed on that actually. Thanks.
