No problem, I gave one as a gift to my niece actually a while back. It was a great hit, she really took to keeping track of the weather forecast each day. I wouldn't worry about the availability of this item. Usually it comes in spurts like it dissapears for a while then thingfling brings it back from the dead to make rounds for a while. I'm sure it's going to come up again soon...
I don't know why but TF seems to have an endless supply of these as theyve been selling them off and on for months. Maybe because people dont realize how good they really are? if you have one of those five off ten coupons from the MB and decided to use it on this, you get it for way way cheap.

I got the refurbished one last time - it showed up missing the outdoor sensor. No more Thing Fling for me.

Well A) I don't believe these are refurbished at all and B) Before you write off thingfling, did you even bother to send in a ticket on the help desk? I'm positive they'll set things right for you, but you have to actually let them know there was a problem.

Scared -
Again, thanks for all the feedback, and I was able to fling two of these last night.

You want a projection clock. This is a cool clock, but you have to tap it for the backlight to come on.

RadioShack had a really cool projection clock on clearance a couple of months ago. #63-100. Automatic atomic self-setting, configurable alarm, 24/7 projection, and 24/7 backlight. Don't know if your radio shacks have any left. (I pretty much cleaned out the greater Phoenix Radio Shacks as they were selling for < $10 each... great gifts...).

upate: Apparently #63-100 was discontinued, but this model (#63-144) looks really similar:

I've had this item for months and the temperature reading is pretty accurate, so far the coldest it's gotten over here is the mid twenties. The only issue I have is that my night stand is at the same level as my bed, so when I press on the clock to get it to light up so I can can read the time/temp, it's hard to read. I have to lean up and look down to see what it says; this is probably due to the fact that the front display is at an angle. This clock is best placed at a height lower tha eye level.

Just a thought, and maybe it wouldn't look pretty, but have you considered raising the rear end ofr the clock so that the front lcd is more vertical rather than angled? Maybe some well placed pieces of cork feet on the back, I don't know. I can see how that would be a problem iff bed and nightstand are level, it just never was an issue for me, honestly I don't use this clock as my main alarm clock because being deaf I have a special clock that vibrates the bed at the appointed time. So mainly whenever I'm viewing the LCD of this clock I'm standing and for that the angled face works well.

It's been coming up a lot lately. Just check the site often and keep an eye on the future fdlings list and I'm sure you'll catch it eventually.

All the positive reviews prompted me to buy a couple for my kids. I would have been pretty skeptical otherwise!

My only thought is that the color choices are odd; Red (warning, danger, stop, bad) for nice weather! Blue (blue skys, nice weather) is rain !!???

Ok, mine just showed up, but I admit, seeing the UPS guy walking up with this HUGE box was making me try to remember what else I might have ordered. I swear that you could have fit about 8 of the clocks in the box that had my little one (with a bunch of big styrofoam blocks. Oh well, at least my cats are enjoying the large box, while I'm watching the hypnotic color changing clock as its temperature slowly raises from the UPS truck's freezing to my slightly more comfortable office temp.

Well I got one of these in the Holiday Mystery Box. Thought it would make a great gift. Box looked unopened and brand new...

Unfortunately... recipient just took it out of the box yesterday and there is NO SENSOR!!! Pray Pray Pray

So now it is rather useless. Anyone out there who can help me out? (Or the King perhaps???)

I'm positive they'll work it out with you. Just submit a trouble ticket on the helpdesk. A TF staffer might see your post here, but submitting a trouble ticket will achieve the best results.

and btw-the clock is not useless without the sensor, without the sensor it simply just cannot display outside temp. It will however still display indoor temp, time, and yes weather forecaasts and everything else the clock can do. ut I think you'll be getting your sensor if you let them know.

Scaredwitless is right. Subbmitting a ticket to our HelpDesk is the (only) way to go. Applause

Yup - submitted ticket at the same time as I posted that, and it has already been resolved. Thanks ThingFling!

Now, if only I knew when this AMB was going to be coming up for sale...

This is a great weather station especially for the ThingFling price!

Mine immediately found and displayed the outside temperature using a sensor I had already placed out on the patio for a Radio Shack (Oregon Scientific) picture frame that also displays time and temperature so I didn't even have to unpack and install the sensor that came with the Color-Changing forecaster. The sensor that comes with the Color-Changing is designed for extreme temperatures by the way; something not needed here in FL, but for those that do it will read down to -40 degrees F, and up to 140 degrees F. They recommend the use of lithium batteries when the temperature falls to -4 degrees F and below.

The color change seems to be driven by changes in the barometric pressure which does a fairly nice job of actually predicting the weather for the next 12-24 hours within a 19-31 mile radius. They claim 70-75% accuracy. I have a 5 day predicting forecaster that uses a radio signal transmitted via the myAmbient.com network, and it and the color changer are currently predicting the same conditions at least for the near term.

Nice review! I concur, I kept forgetting to mention this, but I now believe the weather forecasting is done by way of an internal barometer. I at some point got a Oregon Scientific weather station which also forecasts the weather, and it does so by way of internal barometer. Anyway right or wrong, the weather station and color changing clock are always in synch with one another, they always agree on the same weather forecast. It isn't all that common that they are wrong, but I always see they're in agreement with each other even on fast changes on the weather forecast. So personally I feel that is enough evidence to assume that the color changer must have an internal barometer which it bases ther weather forecast off.

I just bought this as my very first fling! The lengthy review on the first page of this thread was great help. Can't wait for it to arrive!

My old alarm clock has a projector that displays the time on the ceiling, which I like a lot. Maybe I'll just have 2 clocks? Dancing

I live in southern california so I don't expect this thing to be changing to many colors, but lately it's been raining a lot. Hopefully I can get it before the sun starts coming out again, I want to see that pretty blue color on the clock!

Good for you! I bought one here last month and I enjoy it a lot. Its good to see the outside temp and the color changing is really neat too. I thought about buying another one at this price.
