I have this disc fixer already, and the memorex Pro Fix. Both are good for cleaning discs, but don't expect to fix any type of scratches with them. They just don't function well enough for that.

I got five of the mystery bags and it was one of the items!

Other neat items in tour bags were some photosensative night lights,a rechargabel screwdriver. Universal power cord for a digital camera. There was even a digital audio cable and I thought they said no cables in the bags!

I received this in my MB and I used it yesterday to repair a DVD. The good news: It works. My DVD is no longer skipping. The bad news: I found out that if I do not press down the bottom portion of the cover while the machine is in operation, it will not sand all the way to the edge of the disc. As long as I apply steady pressure to the bottom of the cover, it works. I had to sand the DVD 5 times before it fixed my problem.

Thanks for this tip! From all I can learn about these devices it is common for them not to work as well near the outer edge. It will help me tremendously to know that I can overcome that limitation by holding the cover.

ok, i will give this a try, i never bought one of these things before because i don't think any disc can be fix, but this is a steal @ $17.95 for this kit. i have hundreds of kids dvd's that my daughter touch and drop on the ground daily that need some fixing. the best way to clean a disc (finger marks, etc. not scratch disc) is by washing it in cold water and then drying it with a very soft tissue.

well if this works on fixing a scratch disc then i would order more, but just fling only 1 to try and see if some of my daughter's dvd can be fix. if i doesn't work, then i will post here and avoid future purchase(s) of any kind of disc fixer items. Smile

I've tried many different repair kits on the market and this is one of the better ones. For really bad scratches I first use a ultra fine fingernail polisher to scrub out most of the scratch. This leaves the disc in what seems to be a ruined condition though. After about 15-20 runs through this device the disc is usable again. I've rescued many a Wii disc that no one else has been able to fix.

In case you are wondering, the best unit is the ShipDr. It starts at $40 for the automatic unit comparable to this one, and is only marginally better. You can't beat this unit for this price, and it comes with a refill!
