Do these things actually work? I had never heard of them before I saw them on the TF site.
If they do work, I could use a few. I hate the heat, and I burn extremely easily (it's that genuine Scottish milky skin!). We're going on a cruise in July, and these would be great to take along. That is, if they really do work. Maybe I could make a whole suit out of them...

LOL...I can totally relate...here in IL we call it pop...but on the east coast it is soda so when I lived there they used to make fun of me all the time...I would be like you want some pop and they would look around and say where is pop...meaning their dad...Wink

In Alabama, all soft drinks/sodas/pop/carbonated beverages are called Coke regardless of the brand or flavor...that took me by surprise at first.

Shortly after I moved to Alabama, I stopped to get gas. The weather had turned unusually cold, and I noticed that the outdoor display of 2-liter bottles of Coke (real Coke) was icing up. I told the man working in the check-out booth "I think your pop is freezing." He just looked at me strangely. "The Coke," I explained, gesturing toward his display...then he got it! LOL!

Stormfront, they work great. They keep cool for a long time. You can also put them in the fridge once they are pufffed up and they will stay cold for hours. I use them and love them. The colors were great.

It says "24 sets" though.

Does one piece have two cool downz?

Set implies two.

Are there a total of 48 in a set? Two per? It looks like it on the package. Don't know.

I am going to give these out to random people on the street who look like they need a little cooling down. I have a small little ice chest that would be perfect to store these in, if storing them on ice won't hurt them.

Call it a random act of kindness.

There are 24 cool downz per "order". Unless you buy 2 sets. Then you'll get 48. Smile

Set also means a group. The description says a set of 24. Which means that a set is 24 pieces and you are getting one set. Read your forum first and you can usually answer these questions before you order.

I still wish they'd sell them in smaller packs. I know I'd love these (I've been thinking about making my own) but I don't need 24, and I'm tired of buying stuff that I then have to get rid of.

I'd love to see a sampler box, with like 4-6 of these, a few sunglasses, one of those GE light timer thingys, some other items too, yes they could even throw in 12 of the cell phone lights. I wouldn't even mind paying a bit of a premium (for example, a buck each for the cooldownz) for the convenience of being able to order a sampler box with like 5-8 of these different items they sell in bulk.

They could limit them like they do the MB, make up 100 or however many of these sampler boxes, limit it to 1 or 2 per person (because honestly, if you're going to order more than that, it would be cheaper for you to order the items separately when they're flung).

Oh well.... maybe one day.

dabattle ,

Check the trade thread. I think there are some Cool Downz in small numbers there. ( Mine are already gone or I would offer them to you. I just can't figure out how to edit my post. )

Thanks for the info. I missed them this time, but when they come back up, I'll grab them.
I have no earthly idea what I'll do with so many, though. Maybe I'll send them over to my son's school for the kids in his classroom.

Just wanted to let people know that I ordered these on 5/23. They were delivered to me this morning, but TF never sent out a shipping notification and it still says "processing" under My Flings. So if people are worried that there item is still processing they might just get a nice surprise

Give these to any friends and they will disappear. My box was gone in 2 days. You can get them on ebay, but they are more expensive. But I am sure someone would sell you a few. The box I got had so many different designs, that there is something for everyone. The pink ones match my scrub tops so well, people think it is part of my uniform. Maybe Stormfront will split a box with you

Thanks Smile

I'm going to try making my own this weekend. I have several pounds of the poly crystals (I use them for different things), so basically all I have to do is sew a tube of fabric, stuff 2/3 of it, and close it up. Should be relatively simple.

Had a chance to finally try these things out while dismantling a downed tree this weekend. Do they keep you way cool? No, of course not. Do they keep you a little cooler and a little more comfortable? Yep, they sure do. And they last quite a while. They do work. I am quite pleased. Glad I got 'em.

They were just on before and had about 3-4 hours left, then all of a sudden it changed to a heater being offered. What the hell happened?

I was gonna order 3 ThingFling.

I don't think these were up 15 minutes. I was waiting for them and Flung them as soon as they came up. I got something to eat and they were gone. I hope that doesn't mean they are not coming up again since they were gone so quick. I would be bummed if that was the last of them.

Well still was a lie being posted this time as Thingfling's listing said last time " blah blah blah, No more this season. "
Glad they attempted to pull them down so quickly.

Now I wait for some rad-O-cools from Thingfling for my water bottles. Pray Pray Pray

I have missed these everytime they were up. Finally, I'm home and near puter and they are an hour away...so what happens? DD has some running she simply HAS to do RIGHT NOW MOM! Told her she had 55 minutes of my time and that I NEEDED TO FLING. Did her running take only 55 minutes? hell no! I wasn't going to miss out on these again (thank God for cell phones) Called #1 son and made him stay on the phone with me until they came up (all of 2 painful minutes) they came up and I flung by remote. Hated to show him how to fling (he likes shopping as much as I do) but, darn it, I wanted these! Brick wall It was a success, now after reading the comments about them being on for such a short time, I'm real glad phoned mine in. Now...when will they be here? I have a garage to clean! Sad

What's up with the server time. I'm on the east coast, and it's currently 5:24 PM on July 9th, 2008. The person above, is also on the east coast, but the time it says the comment was posted, is at least an hour in the future, 6:13 PM, and it's been there awhile. I've been waiting for these, but I missed them, and I'm curious how much I missed them by. I've also noticed this time issue is pretty much constant, not just an issue here. Any ideas?

So it looks to be a case where the the server is adding 2 hours to the actual post time. I've checked all my settings, and I don't see an issue on my end. I could almost understand if it was a location issue, but 2 hours ahead of me, would plop TF in the middle of the Atlantic.......
