Well, iConcepts is the electronic junk that's usually in clothing discounters like Ross or Marshalls...it works, but usually isn't the highest quality or performance. This one claims a range of 8 meters, so I'd personally eye that with skepticism. At the same time, if you're working at closer ranges (or, as in my case, plan to use it as a remote control for streaming movies), the price is tough to beat (lowest I've ever gotten a quality presenter/laser pointer was about $25 with a coupon...but my wife stole it).

What, only one? If I could get 2, I might. If I could get 3, I would. I'm sure hubby could use one, although he doesn't need one. I've got a friend who would be amused by one. And I could use one to mess with my mom when I visit. But for $7, fulfilling one of these uses it doesn't seem quite worth it. (while filling all 3 for $9 does)

i too, would have gone for 3... but alas, only one seems to be allowed. i found one on ebay shipping out of canada for 9.99 plus 9.99 in shipping, but found plenty of usb pointer/presenters for 5-6 dollars including shipping. 1 isn't much of a deal for 7 bucks, but 3 for 9 bucks would be just interesting enough to go for it!

How does the battery work? It seems like it should be rechargeable based on the PCMCIA bus, but that would be a good feature, and it would most likely be listed. I'm guess replaceable watch batteries? If so, sorry.

I really have been in need of a wireless presenter-type mouse... should I go for it you guys?.. reviews don't exactly seem epic for this one.

This is an OK, not fantastic, deal. You can get these for 3 or 4 bucks at computer shows and hamfests. But if you don't HAVE any of those where you live, you're certainly not getting ripped off by this price. My Dragons need your help to hatch and grow! Please click on them!

OK - bunch of questions on this one especially since I don't have a laptop or PCMCIA on my desktops. First - What role does the PCMCIA play? Is it just somewhere to store the unit or does it charge through the connection? Second - If it DOES NOT charge through the PCMCIA connection, what type of battery do you need? Third - If it DOES charge through PCMCIA, can you still replace the battery and/or charge in some other fashion? Fourth - Will this act kind of like an "air" mouse? That is, point and click without the device sitting on the desktop? I would think that it would. Fifth - Can you use a 333 coupon on this or do the coupons have to be used on items that cost more than 333 not counting the shipping? Sixth - If you CAN use the 333 coupons, can you place multiple orders? For instance, I have three coupons. Can I order one and get it for 33 cents (6.99 - 6.66) using two coupons? Can I then order another and get it for 1.66 (4.99 - 3.33) using my last coupon? And then, could I order a third for 99 cents? That would make 3 of these for $2.98. I'd go for that!!!! The list is getting out of hand. Time to drop the details and just include a summary!

The receiver plugs into the USB. In my question above, I asked about the PCMCIA. Is it just storage or a source of recharging the unit? The list is getting out of hand. Time to drop the details and just include a summary!

If you look closely at the bottom of the enlarged photo it says stored in PCMCIA slot. So the form factor is simply for storage, the base receiver is USB. Don't think the battery recharges, it is most likely a coin cell. I'd wager a CR2932 but that is just a guess.

I have posted about this every time I saw that they had this item up for sale: Despite the description, this item is NOT RF it is IR. This means you must be line-of-sight to use it. Please be aware of this before purchasing.

Thanks, scaredwitless and finzisa! Now, all I need to know is if we can put in multiple orders. Has anyone tried? The list is getting out of hand. Time to drop the details and just include a summary!

Yup: STORES in PCMCIA slot (but many new systems use a smaller slot any more, so might be worthless to you). Uses USB to interface. As others guess, so do I: I'm betting on a coin cell or two to make it work. Based on other presenters I've used, I'd expect limited mouse movement (i.e. push-button mouse) with right and left click capabilities.
