It doesn’t have a button for every feature that the original equipment remotes have but what universal remote does for $12. The nice thing about the 8-in-1 vs say the 6-in-1 is that the 8-in-1 you can deactivate the motion sensor by entering a code. The biggest problem everyone was reporting was that it would eat batteries so fast because the motion sensor was too sensitive. People would open up the case on the 6-in-1 remote and snip the wire that leads to the motion sensor chip to deactivate it but the 8in1 has the option built in without doing permanent damage to the remote. You have to actually push on the screen to get the backlight to turn on but I have had the same batteries in it for more than a month without any sign of them getting low. I would have been thru three or four sets of batteries so far if the motion sensor was still on. The only problem I had was when I got the remote it was used. I emailed them and got this message back…

Thank you for contacting us!
We appreciate your business.
These items are indeed new. The one
that you've received must be a fluke, but we do
honor our sales and your item should operate without
incident. (See our FAQ). If you are experiencing any
difficulty and/or would like a replacement, please let us know.

Sounded fair enough to me. So far I haven’t had any reason to return it.

Zaner,

Thanks for your insight on these remotes, I'm sure you've helped a lot of us here with their decision to fling or not fling! Smile

Does this control a multi-disk DVD player?
My question pertains to DVD skip function.
Thx

You couldn't pay me enough money to ever shop at buy.com again. They screwed me as well as so many other people and they just don't care. Wanna read some horror stories? http://blog.plaxoed.com/...internet-retailer-ever/

I've had nothing but GOOD experiences with buy.com (and ThingFling-on line and at computer fairs). I buy things at Buy.com for home and office, often when they are on sale with prices often far below the competition. They also give you prices of some of the competition which are occasionally lower than theirs. The often-offered free ground shipping reduces the price AND they often ship by next day air anyway without your asking for it. I know some have had bad experiences, but not me.

HOW TO ADJUST THE SENSATIVITY OF THE REMOTE

Page 38 of the booklet "Setting the tilt switch"

How to disable the tilt switch so it won't turn on unless you press a button

1. Press and Hold the P button until the bottom IR segment flashes twice

2. Press below other buttton once.

3. Using number keys press 985, the bottom ir sgemnet flashes twice.

4. Exit by presing the button that looks like a home.

I believe repeating this will turn it back on. once you get your remote just look on page 38!

Hope this helps a lot of you who were asking.

Man, are there only 6 of these or something? I saw them about a week ago in the list of past flings, and have been waiting to see if they would pop back up again. Tonight I saw them in the future flings and as soon as I saw them pop up, I clicked on Fling Me One, then on the next page I got the check quantity message. Sad Ya'll save one for me next time, please. Smile

well they did a big announcement about this last week saying they were going to charge shipping, but lower the prices of the actual item. I forget how much this item was before.
I'm waiting it out...gonna see how good it is in the long run.
But if you missed it...you first order of the day has $6 shipping(no matter how many you order in this order), your second order is $4(like if you come back for another item later that day) and any subsequent orders have free shipping.

They said they were going to start separating the shipping charges from the item price. But if it's $13.95 (total) then it ought to say that the price is $7.95 (+$6.00 shipping). When I click Fling Me One, the total is $19.95. Pretty crappy if it used to be $13.95 shipped and now it's $6.00 more.

I flung one back in Feb or March and it’s awesome. I absolutely love it. I had investigated the Kameleon remote last year and when I saw it for $12 I couldn’t resist. It doesn’t have a button for every feature that the original equipment remotes have but what universal remote does for $12.
Hey thingfling this post states it was only $12 beforeShame on you Whats up with thatQuestion Question Question And I'm sure free shippingExclamation As quoted by ZANER21

hmmmm
This is going to get a lot of people pissed here. So we are actually getting the price before, just getting added on $6 shipping?

Same here, I was about to buy it....but then saw that basically they kept the price the same as before, and just tacked on shipping. Definitely not the way to keep customers happy!!!!!

I have to agree with previous posters. This just doesn't seem right. Seems that we could have gotten it considerably cheaper before the "plus shipping but better prices" announcement.

I've made comment before about shipping killing deals. TF's 'free shipping' (aka shipping included) made it one of my favorite sites.
The list was getting too long to continue to provide details: 25 flings flung - 14 of them mysteries - $477.69 total damage
