The PSP has wireless built in..if you have the latest version of firmware (the older versions were adhoc only, ie. peer to peer, but now they can use infrastructure)...don't know for sure about the DS, but my guess is it won't recognize the USB "thingys" because it won't have the right drivers loaded (if it even has a USB port)....

that 1st site is so you can get custom apps to the DS, not a standard feature...but browsing the 2nd site, I found this: Quote:Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
Ready to take on the world? Now, with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you can connect wirelessly, chat and play with Nintendo DS owners across the globe. All you need to play is a Nintendo DS and a Wi-Fi-ready game. There are no subscription fees -- the service is free! Unfortunately, my kids don't have a wireless supported game, so I couldn't test this for you. There is something called a WI-FI USB Connector, but that is if you don't have a router, you plug into an XP machine (doesn't say Vista), and it uses your internet connection through that. But the bottom line is, the PSP and the DS have native Wi-Fi, just set it up through your wireless router (if you have one!)...The PSP can browse the internet, the DS just connects to Nintendos Game Hub (and only when a wireless game is in the machine). Good luck.

You will need a router to get the PSP to work or you can get the Nintendo USB for the DS to work. It retails for $40. You can get a router for that price or slightly more. I would get the router for future compatibility......
