Not a complaint....Just a question.

The 2 items that are being shipped to me through the USPS show:

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on February 13, 2007 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Does this mean they have not been sent out, or does the USPS not update their system.

I have NEVER had luck with the USPS tracking system. That is my only complaint with them. Don't remember where you are located, but you should receive w/in 3-4 days after that notification.

It means we have labeled your box, and usps is picking it up later that day. They
have not scanned the pacjage themselves yet, so that is why they say "electronically notified." That usually changes sometime the next day.

So, what does it mean when 3 days later, after USPS received info, it's still in "Electronic Shipping Info Received" status.

IMHO......USPS is the worst system as far as notifications. They are hardly ever correct. I've had packages arrive at my door and it sill shows "electronic shipping info received" up to a week later. And I've also shipped packages and it has shown the same info for several days after package has left my door.
If at first you don't succeed.......don't attempt skydiving

Never argue with the ignorant.......they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Unless you choose to pay for the confirmation, they dont keep tabs. Ive had ONE package tracked correctly through usps. So no worries, you will get it when you least expect it

All of our priority shipments include confirmation. I just calles our local postmaster who said that some packages are not scanned along the way, but all are scanned upon delivery.

My experience with USPS is also similar. Never updates beyond notification received.
"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then flingest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Same here. When i receive a confirmation tracking number through an email (paypal/usps notification or whatever), nothing ever updates.

A few times, when i was selling textbooks, I sent it out through USPS with Delivery Confirmation. I did the DC manually (wrote it out on the green sticky). And through that, i would periodically check to make sure that the textbooks would make it to the buyer's door, and the confirmation tracking numbers DID update! It would say: electronic information received, in transit, delivered. I don't know, though. Just my two cents.

I have found that if you track it by email updates everyday.
That you have a better chance of getting updates rather then waiting for them to email you.Think

i usually use their website and tracking number whenever i get curious.....i think thats what everyone else is doing as well. People are used to seeing real time(ish) tracking via UPS and FedEx that I check it through their website as well. And from their website, with the tracking number, it almost always shows as notification received and then sometimes delivered

Update,

USPS tracking went from (electronically notified of package.....) to (delivered)...six hours after I received the package, probably when the postman returned to the post office.

This is not a tracking service, its a delivery verification service. I guess that is the most important, especially for the King.
