it says dual midranges...but the picture only shows 1. Is there a second one on the side? A little clarification would go a long way, and it might let me convince my wife to let me get it Pray

These only have one midrange... and these apparently were never sold in the US, I have checked the archive of the Unisound webpages and the UP series was never on there. I have searched and found this series on many Russian websites, so these were most likely destined for Europe - based on the number of Russian websites listing Unisound speakers, I would say they had distribution set up there for some reason. Maybe it was family ties, maybe mob related, who knows... just don't look inside the speakers when you get them....

Not a review of this model, but hints that folks who took the chance on their other models were pleasantly surprised.

http://web.archive.org/w...sound.net/showroom.html

Of their products posted on ThingFling...
SP18 was their flagship "Hi-Fi series" with wood veneer, pyramid shape
WP2503 was apparently the lower end Hi-Fi with gloss black lacquer finish
AU265 was their Home Theater series with real wood veneer (fancy) and 2x Audire 6.5" kevlar woofers and Vifa 1" silk tweeter
DAC 2.6 was Home Theater series with vinyl veneer (cheaper) and 2X 6.5" poly midrange and an 8" poly woofer
UP series WAS an early model, discontinued around 2003? Can only find UP620 series info...
I could not find UP1203 in any of the archives of unisound.net, nor do I have any experience with any of these speakers.

Anyone that got in on these have their order ship yet? Or even their status change from ordered at least? When I ordered the AU265's they shipped the next day.

Unpacked my UP1203's today and I'm glad to say they're in good condition. One question, which way are they supposed to be oriented? 12" Sub out or in?

I think it should be in, to fill in floor bounce cancellation due to the height of the woofer, if the subwoofer faces you and has output up to ~200 Hz or so, depending on how far away you sit, it can "fill in" the null caused by the direct wave and floor reflected wave reaching your ear out of phase.

doesn't matter unless you're using corners to effect the low frequency wavelengths.

low fill is going to be pretty omnidirectional and non-sourcing in all except the most acoustically perfect rooms... which i'm willing to venture none of us has.. lol.

I've had several side-woofer setups, and except when corner bouncing, or positioning too close to furniture - in vs. out made no discernible difference due to low frequencies being generally non sourcing.

My boxes had L & R stickers on them. Both had the woofer facing out.
