what's the effective range on this?
I'd like to use it for my HTPC, but I need at least 10ft, which seems to be the outer limit of cheaper wireless mice/keyboards. Think

This would be a pretty good deal for me, except that all the interference around my house and work would make this go haywire. Now, if it were bluetooth, I'd be all over it.

I'm in a similar situation, but I might just be in for 1 anyway at $11. Currently using VNC to control the HTPC, but sometimes it bugs out and I have to walk back to the computer itself which is a minor frustration. I have a wireless G7 mouse that has a common issue with it disconnecting/reconnecting randomly every minute or so, so I think I'll give this one a shot.

So does the mouse recharge on the base or is there a separate cable for that?

I do not see any contacts on the base to charge the mouse and the description does mention something about a secondary short USB cable. I tried googling around for a detailed review but could not find one.

I've always had bad experiences with the wireless mice...nose or not; bad for playing games or any long term use. Cannot forget to constantly recharge when not using. Also, this is not good for kids on long trips. Too much arguing when one goes out. I finally just went with the wired mouse. No more problems. For my laptop...this is great as I don't use is for long periods of time but I still have to always remember to recharge.

That's a good question. On one hand I suspect they've left it to you to remove the AAA and charge it in your own charger, yet on the other.. It's very unusual to include a rechargeable if there's not built in recharging capability, usually in that case they'd include an Alkaline instead.

I would think to recharge it, since there are 2 usb cables included, you plug one end into the mouse, and the other into a usb slot to charge it.. Wink I order 2 the first time it was offered, still waiting to get it.. Dancing It's here in Orlando, so who knows when the Post office will deliver it.. Think

I received mine yesterday (I bought two)
Very Happy The first one worked perfectly right out of the box.. no problems.

Confused The second one took some tweaking... It did not work out of the box like the first.
The instructions aren't great. "Hold the round button down for five seconds"
There are TWO round buttons - both a little difficult to see and press. One on the mouse (small and recessed) and one on the hub. Both seem to work as a reset.

I must have done a dozen versions of turning on the mouse - holding buttons and fiddling with the battery and switching parts with the other working mouse/base. All with no joy.

The Micro Innovations Web Site was no help.

Finally I got it to work.

It appears that the trick was holding down the button on the base/hub until the LED on the base started flashing quickly. At the same time I was holding the button on the mouse until it started flashing quickly.. then Whoopee -both mice now work!Dancing

Well got mine. They were delivered 06/30 but I didn't go to the mailbox til today( luckily we have a locked mailbox like apartments do similar to a p.o. box). but anywho... Man these are Tiny. The pictures made them seem a bit bigger lol. They aren't much bigger than my usb retractable mouse that I usually take with my laptop and not as loud when you click the buttons so 1 of the 4 I got will be my new travel mouse. Haven't opened/ tested them all but the 1 I did had no problems.
