Usually on the free items, it will only allow you to order two. It's not really false advertising, just the order limit. As a matter of fact, if you read the description, it says limit ONE per customer...so you were actually lucky to get two orders.

This whole "Free item - just pay shipping" is pure hippopotamus $H|T! I bought 2 sets of the "Free" GE nightlight, then later got 2 sets of the "Free" power inverter. Altogether, it cost me $20. When I got the items, both orders were combined into 1 box. I'll say a conservative estimate to ship the box is $5 (most likely less given the volume discount TF gets and the light weight of the items). That means for $15, I got 12 night lights and 2 power inverters. That is definitely not a good deal in my book for dollar store lights/power inverters. I've already stayed away from the A/MB box, and now I see TF peddling more and more junk. To top it all off, they're charging more for it. I really do miss the old Thing Fling; it looks like all good things must come to an end.

You didn't REALLY think they were giving all of this stuff away for nothing, did you? If you did, I have a bridge you might be interested in, and some prime Florida Swampland. Of COURSE there's going to be a profit margin built into that shipping cost. They would be stupid to sell it without making a profit, and they are definitely not stupid.

The real question is, why did YOU buy the stuff if it wasn't worth it to you? YOU knew you were paying $20 for 12 night lights and 2 power inverters. Whether that cost was listed as the item price or the shipping cost is immaterial. It still is 20 bucks and it still came out of your pocket. They were completely up front about the cost (if perhaps not about the price/shipping breakdown). It was up to you to assess value.

And just to add my 2c (which is what's its worth before shipping!), it's shipping and handling. Somewhere they need to get boxes and tape to ship with, (and yes, some boxes they can reuse, but I expects things come in big boxes and get shipped out in smaller boxes, so you are always scrambing for the right sized box!) Add in that folks who print up the orders and the ones who pack the box probably want a paycheck at the end of the week, too. Having shipped lots of stuff on ebay, I can attest that the cost of shipping is way more than just to postage.

As to stuff you can get at the dollar store, you are right, but there are other costs associated with that, too (unless they run it out of your garage.). There's your time, which granted seems to be free (unless you are taking unpaid time off of work to go to the dollar store!). Also, have you looked at the price of gas? Sad

I failed to get this, again, will I regret it? d'oh!
Confused Will it come around yet again, one - more - time ?

My only worry was that I use little superglue and would it last a long time in the tubes.
So far no 'usage repoorts' from buyers. How 'bout it? Think
Shame on you {...instead of arguing about the 'Freeeitems and shipping', which doesn't belong in this thread - The final answer is, You bought it, You paid for it, You received it; so sit over there and pipe down about it.} Shhh Silenced

Three weeks after my post above and I ordered.

Arrow I checked my junk drawer this time and found the old used tube of SuperGlue I had used to repair my wifes Chinese lamp, that I bought from the HW store months ago, was still liquid (great sealing cap!) and WAS THE EXACT SAME TUBE AS THIS but I know I paid a lot more for it. Whistle

These things don't work, they're half dried up since thingfling has been selling them for over a year now and plus the glue content inside each tube is a dime's worth... I got these for free in a mystery box and the sucked... and that was one year ago, imagine now
24 flings, 57 if you count each order as one...

I go through A LOT of super glue so I thought this was a good deal.

Be warned, this is a low quality "super" glue. It will bond and the bond is generally strong, but this is far from instant. This glue takes awhile to dry and set, so be prepared for that. Something along the lines of 2 - 10 minutes depending on the media being glued.

If you don't need instant, this is a good deal.
