Just curious, I don't see anything in the description that states the system requirements. Is it only for XP, Vista, will it work with Mac???

GREAT Deal! In a quick Google, I see this is currently selling for $80 - $90. Amazon has it for $90.49.

Can someone from the kingdom tell me if this is the silver edition - like the title or the 2.0 as in the description?

This is an important question.

If this is the Silver Edition (as in the photo), it is NOT Vista-compatible out of the box. However, there is a patch that can be downloaded from Nova Development that claims to make it compatible. Also, if it's the Silver Edition, it is a variation of version 1.0, not the most current version 2.0.

I have not been able to find any feature comparison of version 1.0, 1.0 Silver Edition, and 2.0. Has anyone else come across one?

If it is indeed Version 1.0 Silver Edition, it's probably still a bargain at $11.95 plus shipping, but not such a great bargain as if it were Version 2.0.

From the publisher's website (http://www.novadevelopment.com/products/us/pgw/default.aspx):

To run Publisher Pro you'll need:

Windows 98, 2000, Me or XP
Pentium® III compatible
or faster
128 MB RAM
800 x 600 Display
CD-ROM Drive

Compatible with files created in virtually all word processing and graphics applications. Comptible with all inkjet and laser printers.

Text Formats: Microsoft Word (DOC), Microsoft Works (WPS), WordPerfect (WPD), Write (WRI), Rich Text (RTF), ANSI Text (TXT) and more.

Graphics Formats: WMF, EPS, JPG, BMP, CGM, DIB, DRW, EMF, FPX, GIF, HGL, IMG, PCD, PCX, PNG, RAS, TGA, TIF, WPG and more.

Nothing about Mac at all. And from the same website, both Version 1.0 Silver and Version 2.0 require that a patch be downloaded to work with Vista.

For those who are concerned about the difference between the title and image (Publisher Pro Silver Edition) and the description (Publisher Pro Version 2.0), here are a few things I've been able to find:

Templates: Silver has 2,000; 2.0 has 3,000
Graphics: Silver has 50,000; 2.0 has 125,000
Fonts: Silver has 300; 2.0 has 750
PDF Files: Silver can create PDF files; 2.0 can create them as well as import and edit PDF files created by others.

All in all, if this really is Version 2.0 as the description says, it is a stunning bargain. If it is the older Silver Edition, it is probably still a good deal if you don't have another publishing program (or don't like the one you do have).

But it would still be nice to know which one it is before deciding how many to buy.

Dang! I assumed it was 2.0 ( Since it SAID 2.0 ) I think I might be a bit bummed if I get something other than I was told I was ordering. The Vista thing is too bad. I hope it is easy to tweak. I have XP on the desktop but I am never able to get in there.

I got the following email from Thingfling today. I'm not too happy about it but I'll keep the order anyway.

Dear Flingers,

We have recently put up for sale the Publisher Pro Art Explosion Software - Silver Edition.

Although the title is correct, there was a small inaccuracy in the product description:

This is NOT the Art Explosion Publish Pro 2.0.

The correct description is: Publisher Pro Art Explosion Software Silver Edition.

Those of you who have placed an order and wish to have it canceled, please submit a ticket to our Help Desk and we`ll cancel your order and issue a full refund to your payment account.

Otherwise, we will ship it to you starting next Monday, 07/07/08.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Thank You

HelpFlinger

Thanks for posting that Email. My Thing Fling Emails come to an account that doesn't like my main computer and I can almost never get into it.

If anyone has bought these Publisher Pro Silver Editions and are not happy with them, please let me know if you want to sell your copies. My wife is wanting to install them at our Adult activity center and hold a class to show the elderly how to make cards and such. I bought 3 of them, but I need 13 to install them on all the PC's legally.

Thanks,

Rick
