I can't seem to avoid clicking on the mystery box threads. I have some neurosis that forces me to click on the threads when they have the yellow circle. Maybe it's OCD, but what if there's something of critical importance in that thread (like secret government plans to intercept the boxes and replace them with boxes full of cell phone flash lights and poker watches...) that I absolutely *have* to read??? But if I read it, it may ruin my mystery! Oh no! Don't ruin my mystery!

So... I had this idea. How about a separate "NO SPOILERS" thread for each mystery box where we can post general chit chat about the box (shipping weight, expected delivery, how many you ordered, what you're hoping to get, etc.) without giving away its contents?

Brilliant, I say! Brilliant! Sometimes I really impress myself! Cool Cool

You mean like have one listing under, say, "Products" for discussion and people could list what they got under, maybe, a "What did you get" category?
Generally, that's the idea but people tend to get them mixed up.

Unfortunately people post what they get in both.. and talk about the items. I have a feeling though that there will be someone who still post 'spoilers' in this thread just to be "funny"...

You clearly are unable to recognize the genius in my idea, therefore, I dismiss everything you have to say from this day forward! There is no place for practicality in these forums!

The problem is people don't follow the general rule of thumb (or aren't thinking of it, etc) which is that the products forum thread is for no spoilers whereas the whatcha got forum thread is for spoilers.

So much negativity...

I don't actually think the idea will work.. I'm just trying to entertain myself on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend! Wink

Posted before I read your post. Yeah unfortunately this rule of thumb must likely will have to turn into a steadfast moderated rule to make it happen. But I think it could be made a little clearer too. For example, explicitly stating in the description products is a no-spoiler zone, and listing on the upcoming flings which forum each thread is from so no confusion/mix ups happen.

That's a good idea.. I don't expect the TF folks to moderate it, but it should be made more clear that the "products" forum is a 'no spoiler' area.

That's all good and all, I just think you happened to hit on a nerve that has been bothering some fr a while, if you want to keep your box a mystery until you get it you basically have to avoid all relevant threads, and still run the risk of a spoiler in some other random thread. I however don't have this problem because I don't particularly care about when I find out the mystery! Wink

Well, I wouldn't have made the post if it weren't a real issue for myself. I was just hoping to make it a bit lighter and "have fun-ish" type of post. Wasn't trying to start a serious conversation about it.... I need some beer!

Mine is on the "vehicle for delivery!"

I've actually managed not to peak this time. So I just have to last a few more hours.
