I got one last time. It has a very nice solid, heavy feel with rubber ribs running down the back. It is a bit sensitive to movement and will turn on with the slightest of movements (even walking by can trigger it). It has a nice interface, and although the surface is smooth, there are tactile buttons underneath which are nice. Be prepared to invest in rechargeable AAA's as they apparently eat up batteries. Otherwise a nice remote for the price.

I bought this remote because our television remote was broken and our television brand is not common so we can't just easily program any universal remote w/ a code. I called the help line and they upgraded my remote by phone to work our t.v. Although this is what it claimed they would do, I was skeptical...but they did it to my amazement. It's a very nice remote, especially for thingflings price. As said before the only drawback I see so far is it's very sensitive.

Wow, someone who tried the phone service. I was skeptical too. I guess I'll have to give it a try tomorrow, thanks!

Also, probably for a short time, Buy.com has an Acoustic Research remote AR-R1540 15 function remote for $37 w/free shipping (in case some of you dont go to SD)

I had a bad experience too. I ordered an external HD using google check out and my ordered was cancelled. Buy.com told me google cancelled and google told me nothing. When I tried to reorder, I was told the same thing. You can only order at the current price and not the price it was when you ordered it. Since the price had gone up by $20, I didn't order. With all I am hearing, I'm starting to suspect that it was buy.com's fault. I used to buy from them a lot. Not anymore.

Wow, thats surprising that Buy is getting that way. I haven't had a problem with them but then its been a while since I have ordered from them. I just do the Egg mostly now.

Will these be back up?! I was processing payment thru paypal, and as soon as I hit reveiw payment, it went back to home page with the next item. d'oh! .... my husband is always losing the remote and will spend an hour looking for it before turning it on manually! Eh?

It can learn commands and execute macros as well.

I flung one back in Feb or March and it’s awesome. I absolutely love it. I had investigated the Kameleon remote last year and when I saw it for $12 I couldn’t resist. It doesn’t have a button for every feature that the original equipment remotes have but what universal remote does for $12. The nice thing about the 8-in-1 vs say the 6-in-1 is that the 8-in-1 you can deactivate the motion sensor by entering a code. The biggest problem everyone was reporting was that it would eat batteries so fast because the motion sensor was too sensitive. People would open up the case on the 6-in-1 remote and snip the wire that leads to the motion sensor chip to deactivate it but the 8in1 has the option built in without doing permanent damage to the remote. You have to actually push on the screen to get the backlight to turn on but I have had the same batteries in it for more than a month without any sign of them getting low. I would have been thru three or four sets of batteries so far if the motion sensor was still on. The only problem I had was when I got the remote it was used. I emailed them and got this message back…

I flung this one a while back, too. It's very cool
and what other folks have said is pretty much right
on. I think I'm probably not going to keep it, though.
I mainly got it because I have an old remote-less
stereo that I picked up at Goodwill hooked up to my
tv for better sound and was hoping this remote would
be able to tame it. I'm sure it probably would if
I tried the phone support, but the phone support only
works over land lines, not cell phones and I don't have
a land line. I'd also need to use their phone support
to get it to work with my DVD-Recorder (it can handle
the basic VCR-like commands but not the record functions
right out of the box).

All in all, I still think it's a very cool remote, but
just not going to work for me. I'll probably eBay it
or something.
