So, what does "may old acquaintance be forgot" actually mean? Is it a good thing or a bad thing ? Anyway, have a safe and happy new year's eve !!!!

It's a bad thing and it's not "may", it's "should old acquaintance...." and it's asking a question. The answer to the question is later in the song....we'll drink to old times basically and not forget them. If you've heard the song as "may", interpret it as "should".....


and if it took me 4 days to respond, I guess I just woke up and forgot not about auld lang syne (the old times or the times gone by) but the relatively recent ones!!! Very Happy
